Org. Setting and Reporting

UNRWA, the largest United Nations operation in the Middle East with over 30,000 staff
working across five areas of operation, is looking for highly committed personnel wishing to

The incumbent of this post reports to the Manager, Compensation and Organizational Design
Projects (P-4).

Responsibilities

- Conducts research and reviews data pertinent to salaries, allowances and benefits for the Area
staff category in conformity with the Agency’s Pay Policy and related rules and directives;
prepares analysis and statistics, identifies discrepancies and drafts related reports and
recommendations as requested.

- Participates in conducting market research, salary and benefits surveys and other studies,
collecting information related to salaries, allowances and conditions of service from local
market comparators in all Fields; enters collected data in the compensation system,
documents calculation criteria, assists in analyzing data, makes appropriate computations and
drafts related reports.

- Assists in preparing cost projections for pay changes and for different scenarios.

- Collects and analyses available information on cost-of-living, Consumer Price Index and other
statistics related to labor market and socio-economic situation in the Agency’s area of
operations.

- Maintains all relevant files and folders, ensuring easy access; maintains and updates the
intranet site specific to compensation and benefits; liaises and communicates with relevant
parties to inform them on the implementation of changes and decisions.

Education

- A university degree from an accredited educational institution in public or business
administration, economics, human resources management, industrial engineering or related
field.

Work Experience

Five years of progressively responsible experience in human resources management and or
HR administration, particularly in the areas of compensation and benefits and/or payroll, of which ideally two years should have been acquired in a large international, governmental or
commercial organizations is required.

Languages

Very good command of written and spoken English.

Assessment

Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be
followed by competency-based interview.

Special Notice

Conditions of service:

Contract Type: Fixed Term Appointment for 3 years; including 1 year probation period, with the possibility of further extension, subject to the availability of funds, satisfactory performance, and continuing need.

- Grade and Salary, Grade 15 (Jordan): Monthly basic salary JD 997.30 plus special occupational allowance (SOA) of
27.25% of the basic salary (SOA may change from time to time).
- Grade and Salary, Grade 15 (Gaza): Monthly basic salary $ 1,050.20.

Other benefits: Other benefits include monthly Provident Fund contribution (15.4% of basic salary paid by the Agency), compulsory medical insurance, 30 days of annual leave, and dependency allowance (if applicable).

The incumbent may be required to travel in the Agency's area of operations.

This vacancy notice is open to internal and external candidates. Only candidates residing in
Jordan, and Gaza and within commuting distance of the duty station with authorization to work in the
