  1. Role and responsibilities

The purpose of the project assistant position is to assist in the day-to-day implementation of the RALP programme in Akobo.

Generic responsibilities (max 10)

These responsibilities shall be the same for all positions with the same title. The responsibilities shall be short and essential. Details belong in the casual worker’s services agreement. 

  1. Adhere to NRC policies, tools, handbooks, and guidelines.
  2. Assist with the implementation of the Programme portfolio according to plan of action
  3. Prepare and develop status reports as required by management
  4. Ensure proper filing of documents 
  5. Promote and share ideas for improvement of the Programme function

Specific responsibilities 

These responsibilities shall be adapted to the particularities of the job location and context, phase of operation, strategic focus, and type of programme intervention. 

  • Conduct grass root beneficiaries’ mobilization and registration in the project sites 
  • Participate in the identification of the capacity needs of the farmers organizations (cooperatives and groups) supported by the project.
  • Collect and submit weekly or monthly report.
  • Prepare and organise project activities such as trainings, strengthening capacity of farmers’ organizations, radio programs, awareness campaigns on post-harvest handling and gender issues.
  • Plan for project’s day-to-day activities as indicated in the projects documents and assigned by the Project Manager.
  • Keep all files and documents of the organization for the field activities to be used for reporting. 
  • Coordinate with the AAPs, payam, Boma, village authorities and the group’s members ensuring transparent project implementation.
  • Responsible for all the activities undertaking in the demonstration gardens by the extension workers and the farmers groups.
  • Liaise with stakeholders, community leaders and AAPs in the project implementation such as in beneficiaries’ identifications, registration, and awareness.
  • Organize and provide trainings to farmers and the groups in all agricultural aspects (CSA, CA, VA, VSLA, agro-forestry, market linkages and others).
  • Establish, train, mentor and follow up the VSLA for women, farmers and youths groups throughout the project life.
  • Any other duties identified by supervisor.

•            Experience from working as a project assistant, community mobiliser/ agriculture extension worker in FSL programmes in humanitarian/recovery context

•            Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts

•            Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities

•            Some knowledge of English 

Context/ Specific skills, knowledge, and experience: 

•            Must have some high secondary /Diploma in Agriculture and degree will be an advantage 

•            Knowledge of the context in Akobo County

•            Knowledge in Community Mobilization or related field.

•            Knowledge of the Local language is an advantage.
