Mission and objectives

UNHCR Zimbabwe provides protection and assistance to around 23,000 refugees and asylum-seekers and the communities hosting them. Most of the refugees reside in Tongogara Refugee Camp, in Manicaland province, southeastern Zimbabwe, while few of them live in urban areas, mainly in Harare.

Context

UNHCR Zimbabwe is diversifying its funding base, with the understanding that the resource mobilization landscape will continue to face ongoing challenges due to the protracted nature of the refugee situation in Zimbabwe, the COVID-19 impact on donor country economies, the Ukraine-Russia crisis, general donor fatigue, and competing priorities in neighbouring countries with active emergencies. Engagement with traditional and non-traditional donors including private sector is prioritized in line with the Global Compact on Refugees and the Comprehensive Refugee Response Framework (CRRF) approach, which aims to secure the engagement of a much broader coalition of actors.

Task description

Research and identify foundation prospects and informs all appropriate staff of opportunities for new funding. Perform research needed for the preparation of submissions. Writing and submitting grant proposals. Furnishing prospective funders with supporting documents.
