Mission and objectives

Morobe Development Foundation Inc. is a leading Community based Group base in Lae Morobe Province, Papua New Guinea who has the vision to help young people reach their full potential by utilizing their hidden talents in community development initiatives so they can realize their potentail and become a role model in the community. MDF was established to address a broader and more diverse range of objectives and work through the use of dance, music and drama, MDF’s primary aim is to ensure that women participate equally in decision making in any project undertaken, including projects related to Ending Violence against Women, and promoting Human Rights with a aim to support the Government and UN their Development Goals. MDF in collaboration with the United Nations Volunteering Program (UNVP) has also undertaken various scientific research studies related to the environment - forest cover loss, land use land cover change, the influence of various parameters on surface waters, and coastal shoreline turtle habitat loss. These projects included the participation of various experts and researchers from diverse fields across various countries across the globe - ranging from marine biology, biodiversity conservation, PNG community management, remote sensing, and land use policy among various others. MDF is managed by a management committee, which is made up of the Chairman, the Deputy Chairman, Secretary, the Treasurer, the Project Coordinator, Community Development Officer, and a male and female member of the foundation, and ensures that women participate equally in decision making. We at MDF assert that we have the required skill sets, knowledge, established international network, and the necessary foundational work to undertake projects successfully.

Context

The community economy is an important part of socio-economic development and a cornerstone of the community's livelihood. Education, in the community economy, plays an important role too. Only through the development of education we can promote the development of talents, which in turn will lead to the development of all aspects of education in the community. MDF with its multi-approaches in projects and research in contributing to the community development and SDGs, is conducting research on this. One of the relevant project is where MDF provides educational support for students in PNG by connecting them with experts and teachers from around the world, who are willing to contribute and dedicate their expertise as Online Volunteers, to teach the primary students and allow them learn virtually. To that end seeks the support of Online Volunteers to collaborate with MDF in virtual teaching for primary students in PNG. To get involved in this project candidates will be shortlisted and go through an online interview process for Early Childhood Development Education program. Once the selection is completed, the selected Online Volunteers will be added to our group for the online collaboration arrangement and distribution of tasks. It is expected that selected Online Volunteers to commit for 3 weeks and upon completion, MDF will provide feedback on the Online Volunteering Assignment to process the end-of-assignment certificate issued by UNV.

Task description

This task requires the support of multiple online Volunteers with professional backgrounds in teaching (particularly to teach students from Papua New Guinea Nursery and Primary School), in English, Computers, Mathematics, Writing, Spellings, Reading, Digital Skills Training, and Graphic Design . Candidates should be an expert (professor level) of any of the above mentioned subject. Virtual teaching arrangement: - Selected Online Volunteers will be assigned for one subject to teach once a week virtually. - The classes would be arranged according to the School schedule, in a time frame of 6:30AM to 6:00 pm in PNG time; also - Classes will take place over Zoom or Google Meet and are expected to be fully recorded. - The Online classes will take place in a classroom that contained about 30 Students. MDF will prepare necessary arrangement where the students can gather and connect with the online teachers volunteers. We shall use projector and an Internet device to connect online teachers volunteers with Classroom Students where the students will see their teacher teaching live in their classroom. Before being designated, an interview will take place with our administration department, to see if you match our expectations and qualify to teach our students. It ́s expected for you to be an active volunteering teachers, have great manners, know how to work on a team and be able to asses our students progress. Each volunteer will be assigned to teach one subject per week. Therefore, if accepted, you will need to provide a full report of your lessons each week.
