Mission and objectives

The United Nations Resident Coordinator’s Office (RCO) supports the UN Resident Coordinator (RC) in Indonesia. As designated representative of the UN Secretary-General, RC leads and strategically positions the United Nations Country Team (UNCT) in support of national priorities, development strategies, and plans. RCO coordinates activities related to common programming of UN in Indonesia. The support includes strategic planning, programme and operations management, policy guidance, data management and results reporting as well as knowledge management, advocacy, and communications – all seeking to enhance UN coherence and improve overall programme impact to better achieve development results. Under the leadership of the RC, the RCO is also implementing a wide range of initiatives to make the Leaving No-One Behind (LNOB) concept concrete and tangible, especially in the areas of youth, gender and disability inclusion. Context

The UN RCO supports the United Nations Volunteer (UNV) programme’s activities in Indonesia that aims to mobilize volunteers for the UN entities in the country and to promote volunteerism. To continue this effort, RCO intends to collaborate with Online Volunteers through this assignment of which the main objective is to spread awareness and support in disseminating information of the UN in Indonesia’s campaigns and activities. This online assignment is also part of our efforts in outreaching to and sourcing future UN Volunteer candidates. To that end, we are seeking the support of Online Volunteers to perform tasks related to awareness raising and promotion of UN Volunteers Indonesia's digital campaign and volunteering opportunities in social media.

Task description

Specific assistance to be provided by the online volunteers includes: 1. Promote the campaigns and vacancies published on the UNV Indonesia’s Instagram account (https://www.instagram.com/unv_indonesia/). The volunteers will be asked to share/post the flyer, videos, PSAs, and other social media contents through their personal social media handles. It is ensured that the contents are accessible for persons with disabilities as well. 2. Submit an activity report at the end of assignment. The template will be provided. Upon selection, the online volunteer will receive further guidance to carry out this online volunteering through a WhatsApp Group. The expected result of this online volunteering support is to raise awareness on UNV Indonesia’s activities and vacancies, as well as boost applications in Indonesia. The online volunteer will assist over the period of six weeks in total. This online collaboration opportunity will benefit the volunteers through an expanded professional network and get the first-hand experience of directly contributing to the work of UN in addressing the SDG challenges. Upon completion, the online volunteers will be provided with a volunteer certificate for their remarkable contribution.
