Functional Responsibilities
Duties and responsibilities may comprise, but are not limited to the following:
Learning Objectives:
- Provide direct coordination and support to the development of outputs for the security communications strategy for UNOPS;
- Support the development of security communications products and activities (UNOPS Security webpage, content creation, presentations, visual materials etc.);
- Liaise and coordinate with the Inter-Agency Security Management Network (IASMN) Strategic Communications Working Group;
- Liaise and coordinate with the UN Department of Safety and Security and UNSMS partners specializing in security information, communications and data collection, collation and analysis;
- Support the development of communication campaigns, establishing cohesive and coordinated channels of communication to reach and influence key audiences;

Education/Experience/Language requirements
Education:
Experience:
While no prior work experience is required, background in the field of security, international relations, analysis or media/communications is desirable. The successful applicant should not have more than 3 years of post-graduate work experience.
Language requirement:
- University studies in the field of security risk management, criminal justice systems, security information management, analysis, international relations or media/communications is desirable, although not essential.
- Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);
- Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent);
- Have graduated with a university degree and, if selected, must commence the internship within a one-year period of graduation, or be enrolled in a postgraduate professional traineeship program which is part of a degree programme and undertake the internship as part of the program requirements.
Experience:
While no prior work experience is required, background in the field of security, international relations, analysis or media/communications is desirable. The successful applicant should not have more than 3 years of post-graduate work experience.
Language requirement:
- Excellent communication skills (written and oral) in English are required;
- Working knowledge of another UN language, preferably French or Spanish, is an advantage.
