We are looking for an engaged Market Development Officer who brings solid expertise and a passion for FSC’s mission, to work with us in a multinational environment.

 

The Scope

The consultant will support the Adria Balkan region to develop the FSC knowledge and market in Slovenia, by adapting the principle FSC marketing and communication tools to the Slovenian audience and by enhancing the sale and promotion of FSC certified products by local national or international operators.

 

Main Roles and Responsibilities

  • To translate and update the official FSC website for the Adria-Balkan Region into Slovenian language.
  • To translate and update selected FSC documents, articles and stories into Slovenian language .
  • To identify and segment brands and retailers that sell or use FSC certified products in collaboration with the Adria-Balkan team.
  • To promote and negotiate with new brands and retailers on new promotional licenses.
  • To guide Promotional License Holders on how to use the FSC trademarks, ensuring that communication is in line with FSC requirements.
  • To monitor and manage FSC trademark infringement cases in collaboration with FSC's trademark and legal unit.
  • To support with the handling of media inquiries by Slovenian journalists.
  • To monitor local media on news about FSC.
  • To propose and write stories, articles, etc. from Slovenia.
  • To attend meetings with stakeholders upon request by the Adria Balkan Regional Representative.
  • Any other task as assigned by formal supervisor and project work as assigned according to special organizational needs.

 

Qualification, Experience and Skills

Working Education and Training:

  • University degree or equivalent training or experience in Business, Marketing, Communication, or Forestry Sciences.
  • Formal or informal knowledge of forestry and/or forests related products’ market and value chains.

 

Working Experience, Style and Skills:

  • Good time management skills: Ability to perform well while handling simultaneously functions.
  • Solution oriented attitude to work.
  • Service oriented attitude to work.
  • A strong sense for diligence and accuracy.
  • Ability to plan and organize work.

 

Languages:

  • Slovenian as mother tongue or professional knowledge.
  • Fluency in English (spoken and written).

 

Computer Skills – good skills in the use of/experience with:

  • Standard software packages (MS Office).
  • Database management platforms.
  • Content Management Systems (webpage management required).

 

Communication Skills:

  • Exemplary verbal and written communication skills.
  • Active-listening skills.
  • Experience in communicating with the media is a plus.
  • Social media management experience is a plus.

 

Others:

  • Commitment to FSC’s mission and values.
  • Demonstrated cultural awareness and sensitivity to the diversity of values, views and approaches to issues relevant to the FSC program by stakeholders around the world.
  • Basic understanding of the scope of FSC’s programs and activities.
  • Ability to represent FSC through their work with exemplary personal and professional authority and conduct.

 

Plus:

  • Experience in working in a multi-cultural, multi-lingual, global team.
  • Experience in working in / with an NGO or Non-Profit Organization.
  • Driving license.

 

Terms and Conditions

  • Location: Slovenia.
  • Duration of Employment: Temporary contract – until the end of 2024 (with the possibility of extension).
  • Working Hours: Part time - 20 hours per week.
  • Travel: Sporadic travel is required within Slovenia, the Adria-Balkan Region and Germany.
