About the Job
Better Cotton is seeking a dynamic and motivated individual to join its Supply Chain Team in the Better Cotton India Office. The Supply Chain Officer will be responsible for supporting the Supply Chain Team in ginner on-boarding, training and supporting the Supply Chain Team with service delivery to Members and non-member supply chain actors who use our Better Cotton Platform for managing the Better Cotton Chain of Custody requirements.
The role requires a strong service-oriented approach to Better Cotton stakeholders, responsible, reliable and rapid but accurate in completion of administrative tasks. The individual should be able to respond timely to new challenges; identify and analyse problems; and contribute to finding solutions proactively.
This role will report to the India Supply Chain Manager.

Your Role and Responsibilities
Under the line management of the India Supply Chain Manager, you will be responsible for:
Regional Communication and Stakeholder Engagement
- Support Better Cotton's stakeholder engagement with trade & industry in India, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka, including traders, spinners, and other supply chain actors.
- Assist in planning in-person meetings, workshops, and webinars to foster an understanding of Better Cotton's Chain of Custody Standard and Better Cotton Platform throughout the supply chain.
- Support the delivery of training for the rollout of Better Cotton's Chain of Custody Standard and Traceability solution in the region.
- Work with the Supply Chain team to achieve country-specific uptake targets for Better Cotton.
- Act as a focal point for handling stakeholders' inquiries and provide timely and accurate responses to ensure smooth communication between Better Cotton and Supply Chain Actors.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with ginners, traders, and suppliers to foster active participation and commitment to Better Cotton.
- Assist in conducting surveys and gathering feedback from supply chain actors to gain valuable insights for continuous improvement of Better Cotton programme.
- Collaborate with the Supply Chain team to identify and address any potential challenges or concerns raised by stakeholders, ensuring timely resolution and effective relationship management.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all training sessions conducted, including participant details and feedback, to track the effectiveness and impact of capacity-building initiatives.
Supply Chain Assurance and Monitoring
- Support in the selection of suppliers for monitoring, whether through remote or in-person assessments, following the prescribed Monitoring and Assessment Procedure.
- Support the conduction of Second party assessments for suppliers under the supervision of the Supply Chain Manager.
- Compile comprehensive reports on the outcomes of Second party assessments and review them to identify areas for improvement and enhance training requirements.
- Support the implementation of monitoring tools or technologies to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of supplier assessments.
- Ensure comprehensive documentation of audit findings, non-conformities, and corrective actions taken by suppliers to facilitate continuous improvement and compliance with Better Cotton standards
Membership & Supply Chain Team Support and Collaboration
- Ensure seamless coordination and collaboration with the Better Cotton Secretariat, Members, Non-Members, Ginners and Partners to foster effective communication.
- Stay informed about the content and material created by the global team, enabling effective dissemination of Better Cotton's impacts, new developments, and achievements to supply chain actors and other stakeholders.
- Participating in internal meetings to provide updates on activities and facilitate information exchange between different regions.
- Proactively collaborate with the global team members and contribute ideas for process improvements, and better alignment between regional and global initiatives.
- Assist in the preparation of reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders, highlighting the progress and impact of Better Cotton in the region.
- Participate in cross-functional team meetings and contribute to the exchange of ideas and best practices for continuous improvement and better alignment between different departments.
- Assist in conducting regular performance assessments of supply chain programs and initiatives, providing data-driven insights for strategic decision-making.
Profile
The selected candidate will have the following skills, knowledge, and experience:
Essential
- University degree, OR equivalent higher education qualification
- Relevant work experience of minimum 3 years in a relevant field
- Demonstrated interest in sustainability, and supply chain issues or textiles and apparel
- Attention to detail, ability to solve problems independently, and persistent in accurately performing repetitive tasks, working diligently to complete processes efficiently
- Demonstrated organizational skills, ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently while maintaining attention to detail
- Good written and verbal communication skills in English and Hindi with the ability to communicate clearly and concisely
- Self-starter and problem solver, comfortable with some self-direction
- Team player with excellent interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated trustworthiness and integrity
- Proficient IT skills, including but not limited to Microsoft suite (PowerPoint, Word and Excel).
Desirable
- Experience working in the supply chain of a large retailer, brand or textile supplier
- Knowledge of traceability and associated technologies
- Experience of designing and delivering training
Working arrangements
The position is full-time (40 hours per week) and will be based in the Delhi, India. Better Cotton offers flexible working, with core hours being 10am – 4pm, staff are required to come to the Better Cotton Delhi office as per flexible working policy (currently minimum one week in every 6 weeks) and can work from home accordingly.
The position may require travel in- and outside of the country / region not more than 2 weeks of long haul trips and not more than 15 short-haul trips 2-3-day trips.
