ORGANIZATION BACKGROUND:

Centre for Catalyzing Change (C3), is a registered non for profit organization, focused on improving the lives of women and girls in India by equipping, mobilizing, educating and empowering women and girls, to achieve gender equality. Centre for Catalyzing Change increases awareness of health entitlements and supports women to gain access to reproductive (public) health services through information and advocacy. C3 also strengthens the ability of women to become leaders in their communities and the nation. Working in partnership with communities and community based organizations, C3’s proven approach is to develop and give women, young girls and boys the tools they need to improve their lives, as well as that of their families and communities.

We are looking for Five School Coordinators, for our Adolescent and Young People programme who will be working under the supervision of the District Program Officer (AYP), will work closely with the School Education and Health Systems in two intervention blocks to provide support for the implementation of the mental health components proposed under the initiative by C3 in Udham Singh Nagar. The program is designed to be implemented in over identified schools supplementing the SHWP in selected administrative blocks to address emerging mental health needs among adolescents. The School Coordinators shall be responsible for the block, school, and community-level implementation of the program in their respective designated clusters/geographical areas.

JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:

Program Implementation:
• School visits in 20-25 Govt. schools assigned and will be responsible to relationship build with Head teacher/Nodal teachers - HWAs (Health Wellness Ambassador) /Students /Parents
• Support to HWAs who conduct the activities that are designed around SHWP i.e workforce readiness, Sexual & reproductive health, mental health and life skills.
• Weekly follow up and help HWA in conducting sessions as per the shared module or need.
• Providing complete support in conducting program related events like Adolescents Health days, Gender and Child right issue related workshop or awareness program.
• Providing complete support in organizing workshops for Head Teachers, Teachers and Block Resource Person.
• Supporting with relevant materials for organizing time to time meetings with schools, community and block level officials.
• Ensuring timely project implementation and meeting key indicators as per planned.
• Identifying and capturing stories of adolescents
• Conduct the Community level meetings - with parents and guardians and resolve issues in community to ensure the smooth functioning of the program as and when required
• Support the teachers in organizing the Parents-Teachers meeting every quarter when required.

Relationship Management:
• Regularly sit-in meetings with diary entry of the Head Teachers to keep them informed about the progress of the adolescents.
• Developing congenial relationships with the Block Resource Person/BEO, school faculties and the community at all times.
• Regular prompts on WhatsApp groups and other relevant official mediums for encouraging the learners to share their learning experiences.
• Generating referral system and self-employment for suitable adolescents

Monitoring and Evaluation:
• Collection of School, students, adolescents and parents’ data as per need and share the same with the Knowledge management team.
• With support from Program team, report against a simple Monthly and Daily work plan calendar for assigned schools.
• Support teams in monitoring, evaluating and surveys by coordinating with relevant stakeholders
• Identifying, capturing and collecting successful case stories, activity pictures and videos and sharing the same with Program Team.
Travel : The position involves traveling in the field for 20 days towards intensively implementation of the project in schools

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:
• Degree/Diploma in Public Health, Rural development, Management or Social Sciences least 2-3 years’ experience of working in public health programs OR in programs on adolescent and youth particularly adolescent reproductive health issues, and youth leadership OR experience of working with adolescents in school settings
• Working experience in Uttarakhand would be preferred.
• Well informed on developmental issues and policies related to adolescent girls and boys, knowledge of issues around young people’s education, health and rights, including a good understanding of the public health and education system.
• Essential to communicate in English and Hindi (written and spoken).
• Must have ability to write well-structured reports & documents.
• Familiarity with local language and culture
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities with attention to details
• Experience of supporting Block level implementation and problem solving
• Experience of delivering community-based programs
