Update
Context
UN Women is the United Nations entity dedicated to gender equality and the empowerment of women. Based on the vision of gender equality proclaimed by the United Nations Charter, UN Women works to eliminate all forms of discrimination against women and girls, empower women, and achieve gender equality as partners and actors in development, human rights, humanitarian action, peace and security. Under the framework of the UN Women’s Flagship Programme Initiative Women Count”, and the programme “Support for gender mainstreaming in the production and analysis of gender-sensitive statistics”, UN Women Morocco has concluded a partnership with the High Commissioner for Statistics (HCP) on three areas: i. Create an enabling environment to assess quality of produced gender statistics, pro-mote peer-education exchanges and engage Members of Parliament to advocate re-form to improve the legal, political and institutional environment for the production and use of gender-statistics. ii. Increase data production by providing financial and technical support to produce, ana-lyse and generate gender-responsive statistics in line with international norms and standards. iii. Improve data accessibility, quality and use by institutionalizing user-producer dia-logues, providing support to produce and disseminate user-friendly gender data related report and strengthening capacities of statistics users during development, budgeting, monitoring and assessment of public programmes.
Task description
Under the direct supervision of the Programme Analyst, the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks: 1. Provide support to the effective implementation of the programmes: • Support the monitoring of the programmes work plans and ensure their quarterly updates. • Support in the preparation of terms of reference for the consultants. • Provide administrative and logistical support to the programmes meetings and commit-tees. • Assist in collecting data and reporting key results for progress reporting and support pro-duction of periodic reports (quarterly and/or annual). • Support documentation of the best practices and lessons learned linked to strategic and operational objectives of the programmes. Support quality assurance in the review of documentation, reports and e-mails and initiate corrective actions. • Maintain an efficient filing/documentation system of programme documents, ensuring their safekeeping • Maintain good relations and effective coordination between institutional partners, civil so-ciety, and the United Nations development system. 2. Support the financial monitoring of programme activities: • Monitor the setup of budgets in Quantum to ensure their accordance with budgets agreed with donors and are input into Quantum. • Control allotments, monitor expenditures, and prepare budget revisions of the pro-grammes on a regular basis. • Contribute to the preparation of regular financial reviews and reports of the programmes. • Prepare the supporting documents and requests for procurement and payments. • Any other related tasks as may be required or assigned by the supervisor. Furthermore, the UN Volunteer is required to: • Strengthen her/his knowledge and understanding of the concept of volunteerism by read-ing relevant UNV and external publications and take active part in UNV activities (for in-stance in events that mark International Volunteer Day); • Be acquainted with and build on traditional and/or local forms of volunteerism in Morocco. • Reflect on the type and quality of voluntary action that she/he is undertaking, including participation in ongoing reflection activities. • Contribute articles/write-ups on field experiences and submit them for UNV publica-tions/websites, newsletters, press releases, etc. • Assist with the UNV Buddy Programme for newly arrived UN Volunteers. • Promote or advise local groups in the use of online volunteering or encourage relevant local individuals and organizations to use the UNV Online Volunteering service whenever technically possible. Results/Expected Outputs: • The management and substantive and contextual monitoring of programmes on gender equality are ensured, including quarterly internal online reports and reports to donors. • The preparation and updating of project documents and work plans are ensured. • Programme results are achieved, documented and communicated. • Knowledge, lessons learned and good practices from programmes are available and dis-seminated. • The organization of seminars, meetings, and training workshops is ensured. • Meeting minutes are written, and their recommendations closely followed up • Age, Gender and Diversity (AGD) perspective is systematically applied, integrated, and documented in all activities throughout the assignment. A final statement of achievements towards volunteerism for peace and development dur-ing the assignment, such as reporting on the number of volunteers mobilized, activities participated in and capacities developed
