Mission and objectives

The UN Resident Coordinator’s Office (UNRCO) supports the UN Resident Coordinator (RC) in their roles to work with UN entities to improve the impact, efficiency and effectiveness of the UN’s operational activities for development at the country level. As designated representative of the UN Secretary-General, the RC in Malawi leads and strategically positions the United Nations Country Team (UNCT) in support of national priorities, development strategies, and plans. The UNRCO in Malawi provides inter-agency coordination support to the UN Country Team (UNCT) and its various sub-groups (Programme Management Team - PMT, Operations Management Team - OMT and UN Communications Group - UNCG). The support includes strategic planning, programme and operations management, policy guidance, data management and results reporting as well as knowledge management, advocacy and communications – all seeking to enhance UN coherence and improve overall programme impact to better achieve development results.

Context

The UN in Malawi in collaboration with the government has jointly developed the Malawi 2024-2028 UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) that represents the UN Development System’s collective support to the achievement of Malawi 2063, its First 10-year Implementation Plan 2021-2030 (MIP-1), the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and the African Union Agenda 2063. The UNRCO in Malawi is looking for a creative Online UN Volunteer (UNV) with at least two years of experience in developing animated videos. The objective is to produce a 3-minute visually appealing animated video of the Malawi 2024-2028 UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework.

Task description

Under the supervision of the Head of RCO and Strategic Planner, the online volunteer will efficiently employ creativity, functionality, and technology to design and produce an eye-catching and informative animated video of the Malawi 2024-2028 UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF). Technically, the volunteer will be guided by the Data, Results Monitoring and Reporting Officer and the Communications Officer to ensure that appropriate storyboards and brand guidelines are utilized in the creation of the 3-minute animated video. The video needs to be in a format and size suitable for sharing on various social media platforms like Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter. The productions contracted with RCO are intended for free distribution and will be the exclusive property of RCO.
