What Is the Nairobi Immersion Programme?

The United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) has designed this five-day in-person field visit to provide participants with a comprehensive immersion into the multilateral working environment of the UN and its partner agencies based in Nairobi. Its purpose is to equip professionals and emerging leaders with practical knowledge of the UN system, core diplomatic skills, and career insights in international organizations.

Programme dates: 1–5 June 2026
Location: Nairobi, Kenya
Language: English
Mode: Face-to-Face
Price: USD 2,300
Registration: Open to all on a first-come, first-served basis (limited to 30 participants).

Through a mix of expert sessions, workshops, guided tours, and career development activities, you’ll gain insights that are difficult to obtain through online courses or textbooks alone.

What You Will Learn

  • Explore Nairobi as a centre of multilateral action — home to the United Nations Office at Nairobi (UNON), the UN Environment Programme (UNEP), UN-Habitat, and other agencies.

  • Develop core diplomatic and professional skills such as negotiation, public speaking, leadership, and understanding of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

  • Expand knowledge relevant for international careers, including navigating UN careers, application strategies, and interview skills.
