The Secretariat of the United Nations is requesting nominations for the generic position of Special Representative of the Secretary-General (SRSG) and Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General (DSRSG) Political and/or for the Rule of Law in United Nations field missions/peace operations. The target audience is leaders having a minimum of 20 years of proven high level governmental, non-governmental, international and/or regional experience in conflict, post-conflict, peacebuilding and/or development. Nominations of women candidates are strongly encouraged.
Impactpool supports the Secretariat of the United Nations in finding exceptional leaders with the skills, values and drive to head United Nations field missions. These operations vary in size and purpose - you may find yourself leading the UN efforts to broker and monitor peace agreements, stabilising a volatile security situation or laying foundations for sustained peace and recovery after conflict.
Who can nominate?
Member States: may submit a gender-balanced list of up to four nominees (e.g. if submission of two nominees, one must be a woman; if a list of four is submitted, at least two women must be nominated).
Organizations (e.g. UN entities, international and regional organizations, NGOs): may also put forward candidates. The parity consideration pertaining to Member States applies.
Self-nominations: candidates who meet the profile and criteria outlined below are entitled to nominate themselves.
