Name Guled Said - Student 2013/2014, from Somaliland

Profile: I have more than ten years of experience in results-based management, monitoring and evaluation, institutional development and strengthening, and good governance with several government ministries, departments and agencies in Somaliland. Currently I am working as Director General of the Somaliland Civil Service Institute.

The University of Turin/ITCILO Management of Development Programme helped me to scale up my knowledge and skills on a wide-range of issues in a relatively short period of time such as programme and project design and implementation; results based programming, monitoring and evaluation; development economics; policy formulation, implementation and follow-up; governance and institutions; and others. What is unforgettable about this programme is the group interaction and experiences of the participants coming from different regions of the World. The course and the learning environment provided me with a unique opportunity to enjoy a high-quality campus life and learning context through teamwork, interactive classwork, experience and best practice sharing, and team-based projects on pressing issues related to our respective countries.

My Career Projects: the global exposure that I gained from this course helped me to become the Director General of the Somaliland Civil Service Institute six months after my graduation. Thankfully, I can now work at a senior level, manage different government projects, participate actively in the Somaliland civil service reform programme, and further contribute to the development of my country.
