Name Sonya Syafitri -  Student 2016/2017, from Indonesia

Profile: I have fourteen years of experience in emergency, recovery response and international development working with several International NGOs and the United Nations in Indonesia, Myanmar, Haiti, Bangladesh and Vanuatu. Currently I am working as Durable Solution Expert for IOM Mozambique

The University of Turin/ITCILO Management of Development Programme helped me to enhance my knowledge and skills on a wide-range of topics (i.e. project development and management, result-based management, monitoring and evaluation, development policies and strategies etc.) in a relatively short period of time. The course, the campus environment and the location of the school provided me with a unique opportunity to enjoy learning either through group and teamwork as well as through interactive class-based activities and using a case study approach to the most relevant and critical issues we face in our organizations and countries. This course also provided me with exchange of experiences and best practices with my classmates who came from different parts of the world.

My career and projects: By obtaining my Master’s degree, I have gained further global exposure and experience that helped me to land in a senior management position three months after graduation inside the International Organization for Migration (IOM) leading Resilience & Environment Programme targeting Rohingya refugees and host communities in Bangladesh. With the knowledge I gained from the Master on Management of Development, I am now able to work more efficiently and effectively to serve disadvantaged populations and the country we are supporting as well as add further value to the organization I work for.
