The Musk-led DOGE has locked down USAID, and 10,000 colleagues have lost their jobs. The global suffering as a consequence of closed programs is impossible to predict, but it will have a severe impact on the poorest on earth.

In a series of articles, I will provide insights to (targeting former) USAID co-workers on how they can make themselves attractive for a transition to a UN career.

In this article, I will present a list of organizations in which US nationals are underrepresented. I will also expand on quotas.

President Trump is leading with high volatility and the information provided this morning may be obsolete and incorrect by this afternoon. But given Trump's recent actions and rhetoric, US nationals should at this time not attempt to apply for jobs at the ICC, UNFPA, WHO, OHCHR, UNRWA, UNEP, UNFCCC, UNESCO, and Human Rights Council.

In this article, I list 25+ organizations where US nationals can safely apply for staff positions without worrying about Trump's next move. I will also recommend organizations where you can look for consultancy opportunities to land a job fast.

As I wrote in the first part, I am honest upfront. The first article only required that you signed up for a free Impactpool membership. However, subsequent articles require a Fellowship subscription. If you've previously used our fellowship and discontinued your subscription due to recent changes in employment at USAID, please contact me and I will offer you a complimentary three-month subscription.

About the author: Henrik Ryden is a former international recruitment manager at the UNDP. He is Impactpool's cofounder and has more than 20 years of experience in the Impact career sector. He started his career at the Swedish Sida, a younger “cousin” of USAID.
