Panel: Leading Ladies in International Organizations

Join us for an inspiring panel discussion on women, career development and leadership in international development organizations. During this 75-minute FREE virtual panel we will share experiences and advice on how to develop a career in international development and how to become an effective and authentic leader in this often challenging field of work for women. 

The Leading Ladies in International Development Panel Discussion is part of a larger initiative to inspire, promote and support female leaders and leadership: The purpose of the Leading Ladies initiative is to advance women in leadership, raise the profile of leading women overall and inspire young rising women leaders to pursue their career dreams. The "Leading Ladies" Panel project is focusing on different aspects of women leaders.  

This is an initiative by Katarina Holm-DiDio, a leadership and executive career coach in collaboration between Impactpool and KHD Consulting International. It is hosted by Impactpool and moderated by Katarina.

Senait Gebregziabher, International Director, Eastern, Southern Africa and Ghana and Nigeria, SOS Children’s Village International

Senait has more than two-decade experience managing complex and large-scale humanitarian and development programs in Asia and Africa. This includes senior roles with SOS Children’s Village International, Plan International, Oxfam and Save the Children in – Thailand as Asia regional director and Country director and senior positions in Bangladesh, Somalia Cambodia, Uganda, Ethiopia, and Sri Lanka (including the responses to the 2005 tsunami and 2006-2009 escalation of conflict in Sri Lanka) and consulting to the World Bank on gender and land rights issues.  

Before joining as International Director for Eastern and Southern Africa, SOS Children’s Village Senait served as Asia Regional Director with Plan International. She served as a Country Director of Bangladesh. Prior to joining Plan International, she also served as Oxfam's Country Director in Somalia, a role that coincided with Oxfam's significant 'Single Management Structure' organisational change process. Acting country director in Sri Lanka and senior management positions in different countries both in Africa and Asia.

Senait holds a Masters of Science in International Community Economic Development from South New Hampshire University (USA) and Bachelors of Arts in Business Administration from Addis Ababa University.


 
Helen Krug von Nidda, Executive Coach and Trainer at Rise Collective

Helen is a Coach and trainer with over 20 years of global experience in human resources. She focused her career on people development in the international human rights sector. Helen has extensive coaching, training and facilitation experience in both French and English on four continents.  

She is the founder of Rise Collective with Helen, a coaching and training practice for women.  She was the HR Strategic Partner at United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), formerly Director of Talent Management at the International Rescue Committee (IRC). She also worked for UNICEF, the United Nations, the World Wildlife Fund for Nature (WWF) and, in the private sector, for Reuters and Sotheby’s.  

She holds a B.A in Theatre and History from Smith College, an MA in HRM and is currently pursuing her Doctorate in Adult Learning at Columbia University.

 
 
Shairoz Nathoo, Swedish Committee for Afghanistan, Deputy Country Representative

Ms. Nathoo has over 20 years of International leadership experience in humanitarian and social development. She is presently assigned with the Swedish Committee of Afghanistan as the Deputy Country Representative and has previously served in various capacities in Afghanistan- as the Senior Advisor for Policy and Programmes at the Aga Khan Development Network,Diplomatic Office, the Country Representative of iMMAP and CEO of FOCUS Humanitarian Assistance, as well as as a Senior Consultant with the World Bank Group in Kenya.  

Shairoz is completing the Executive Public Leadership programme at the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University as well as enrolled in a PHD programme in International Relations and Diplomacy at le Centre d’Études Diplomatiques et Stratégiques, in France. She holds a dual Master’s Degree in Public Health and International Development as well as a Degree in Nursing.

Her career goals are centred around providing leadership in programmes aimed at improving social justice and the quality of life of the vulnerable and empowering communities to becoming more resilient.

Lauren Rumble, PhD has been working as a child and women’s rights advocate with the United Nations and other organisations for the past 15 years. She is passionate about using evidence to influence policy and leverage greater investments for women and girls, including to end poverty and violence. An experienced feminist leader of people, she enjoys the challenge of creating lasting solutions across teams to translate powerful ideas into practical action.

Lauren has a PhD in Public Health from Queensland University of Technology and a MPhil in International Relations from the University of Cambridge.

 
Moderator:

Katarina Holm-DiDio, Leadership and Executive Career Coach and Trainer, KHD Consulting International & Impactpool.

Katarina is a Leadership and Executive Career Coach and Intercultural Trainer with over 20 years of international experience in human resources, learning, and development, and as a coach and trainer. An expatriate turned immigrant to the US, she grew up in Finland, and has called the US home for the past 21 years. She is currently a coach with Impactpool, a career consultant with UNFPA, and a leadership coach with Seton Hall University Buccino Leadership Institute. She previously worked at the UN Secretariat and Columbia University.

Kat is ICF Certified in Leadership Coaching for Organizational Performance from Rutgers University and has two Masters Degrees:  in Mental Health Counseling from Iona College (USA) and in Social Science from Åbo Akademi (Finland).
