Name: Joanna Lewicka, Student 2018/2019, Poland
Profile: Office Manager, IP Paralegal and Translator at PatentAegis.eu, a 10-year old family company specialized in industrial property law, operating from Warsaw, Poland.
My career and projects:
Being a translator and a linguist by profession, and a Warsaw tourist guide by passion, my IP adventure started in Geneva in 2011 with the WIPO Summer School. In 2012 I started working as an assistant in an IP family boutique company. The diversified IP world has kept me intrigued more and more. This led me to the EUIPO and the EPO, where I interned, learned and enriched my practical experience. After taking a good deal of different courses in IP, I decided to submit my application to the IP LLM organized by the WIPO Academy and the University of Turin .
“The IP LLM programme in Turin was certainly a unique experience on my educational and professional path. It was both an intensive and a very rewarding period of time. I could meet and learn from a variety of lecturers, engage in discussions with various views and acquire a bigger picture on the nature of IP and its relations to other areas of law and business. It undoubtedly enriched my understanding of IP and laid solid foundations for my professional future. From a personal perspective, I had a privilege to meet incredible people from all over the world, from whom I learned at least as much as I gained academically. I am curious to see how my life will unfold from now on, for sure, the full impact of the programme is yet to be seen.
