According to the World Health Organisation (WHO) “around 15% of the global population – over a billion people – lives with some form of disability, of whom 2–4% experience significant difficulties in functioning. Many of these people require assistive technologies such as low-vision devices, wheelchairs or hearing aids. This number is expected to double to 2 billion by 2050”.
This makes it a vital topic to speak about in employment/recruitment in order not to exclude quite a large number of passionate individuals also hoping to make a positive impact on the global goals. In this article, we discuss what is meant by having a disability as well as the progress being made by some of our partner organisations during an HR roundtable discussion hosted by Impactpool.
