Meet Your Coach

Salma is a communications specialist with over 15 years of experience in the United Nations, working in strategic communications, video production, social media, web writing, media liaison, and event management. She has worked with UNICEF, UNOCHA, UNDPA, UNESCO, and UNDPKO on major national and international projects, both in field locations and at headquarters.

Her work has taken her across some of the world’s most complex environments, from Kabul to Kenya, Yemen to Syria, Egypt to Afghanistan, and Pakistan. Salma has collaborated with UN Goodwill Ambassador Mia Farrow and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Malala Yousafzai. She has also worked as a consultant and is the founder of ARTconnects, an award-winning creative humanitarian social enterprise.

Before joining the UN, Salma worked as a journalist with Associated Press Television, the BBC, and ITV. In 2023, she was awarded the British Empire Medal (BEM) in King Charles III’s Birthday Honours List for services to the arts and education. She has also received the British Citizen Award at the Palace of Westminster for her contribution to humanitarian arts, and in 2021, ARTconnects received the UK Prime Minister’s Points of Light Award for exceptional service.
