Joint initiative has been established by the organizations of the United Nations system to achieve economies of scale by improving cost-effectiveness in the provision of services which are for the mutual benefit of two or more UN Offices, Programmes and Funds, and Specialized Agencies. The Common Building Services in respect of the Common Premises are as follows:

  1. Maintenance and repair;
  2. Safety and Security equipment i.e. fencing, access control elements, CCTV system, early fire detection and warning system, security lightening, public announcement system;
  3. Telecommunications (PABX lines);
  4. Receptionist/telephone operator;
  5. Cleaning;
  6. Landscaping;
  7. Electricity;
  8. Gas;
  9. Water;
  10. Heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC);
  11. Waste removal.
 
 
Duties and Responsibilities

 
  • Follows the schedule of repairing and maintenance of equipment and any capital assets of the building and suggests measures to improving their operation and maintenance.
  • Takes part in inspecting of the technical conditions of electrical and mechanical equipment, diesel generator, power-supply system, fire control system and security system and quality of repairing works as well as in accepting of the works implemented.
  • Replaces and repairs a variety of lighting and electrical components, including bulbs, fluorescent tubes, ballasts, switches, wall plugs, dimmers, circuit breakers, wiring, and fixtures.
  • Uses schematics and proper tools and equipment to prevent safety hazards and provide adequate light and power.
  • Completes basic repairs on building fixtures, including doors, windows, faucets, small leaks, flush valves, angle stop valves, wax gaskets, toilet tank parts, and other electrical and mechanical components.
  • Performs miscellaneous repairs on small appliances and building and office fixtures.
  • Ensures proper safety of buildings, facilities, and mechanical and electrical equipment.
  • Maintains work areas, mechanical rooms, and the maintenance office and storage in a clean, neat, and obstacle free condition by cleaning, painting, and keeping supplies on shelves to ensure safe and hazard free work areas.
  • Performs other relevant tasks .

 Required Skills and Experience
 
Education:
  • Secondary education.
  • Technical school/college in the field of maintenance of electrical equipment or instrumentation and automation would be an asset.
Experience:
  • Min 4 years of work experience in the maintenance of electrical equipment, instrumentation and automation;

Desired: Сertification of the 4 th electrical safety group (required for maintenance of electrical equipment with a voltage of up to 10 kV) will be an advantage;

Languages:

  • Working competence in Russian and Turkmen, basic knowledge of English
