Position overview:
This role focuses on providing critical information to farmers, fishermen, livestock owners & rural youth across the country to improve their lives and livelihoods. Crucial information such as how to tackle pest attacks on crops; cyclone alerts for fishermen; or preventive measures against livestock diseases could help safeguard incomes and even lives.
He will be working on providing validated information services to different livelihood information seekers using modern Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). The diversity of dissemination platforms ensures that anyone and everyone can access the advisories, irrespective of their differential access to technology. This is supplemented by field-based outreach as well. The incumbent responsible for the position will be required to do the below mentioned responsibilities and is not limited to:
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
⢠Identify, design and implement region specific programmes that improve the lives and livelihoods of the communities by addressing information asymmetry through digital extension services
⢠Build multi-stakeholder partnerships to leverage expertise and resources towards addressing the need based information exchange in different thematic areas
⢠Be abreast of ICT-developments, test various ICT tools and applications including Artificial Intelligence and Internet of Things, and generate platform for disseminating personalized advisories at scale.
⢠Building networks with internal and external stakeholders to increase the demand based knowledge repository. Contribute to the national priorities by enabling information into action that support key development challenges of the society.
⢠Document the programme activities / results and provide the necessary information in appropriate formats â outputs / outcome of the activities
⢠Implement programmes in alignment with results, cost-effective, innovative, large user base in different regions and different thematic areas such as agriculture, livestock, inland fish, marine fish and micro-enterprises.
⢠Liaison with a vast network of knowledge partners to make the information available to people through grassroots partners.
Personal Qualifications and experience:
a) Must haves / Essential:
⢠Post Graduate in Sociology / Social Work / Development Administration / Agriculture / Fisheries / Veterinary Sciences / MBA Rural Management / Agriculture Extension or Post Graduate in Social Work / Rural Management / Rural Development
⢠Minimum 12 years of social sector experience and knowledge of new age IT technologies
⢠Experience in leading a team of development professionals and building team
⢠Knowledge on Rural Eco system, social dynamics and problem solving
b) Preferred:
⢠Capacity to build and maintain cordial relationship with Government Departments, Universities, KVKs, Research Institutions to extend their advisories and expertise to rural communities through digital platforms based interactive sessions.
