Position Description: The Director of Operations and Projects of Nadia’s Initiative in Germany is responsible for implementing the priorities of the organization as envisioned by President and Founder Nadia Murad and approved by the organization’s board and membership. The Secretariat will support Nadia’s work by collaborating with the NI USA team and by executing programs in Germany with a particular emphasis on advocacy and the refugee community.
Position Basics:
- Location: Stuttgart, Germany (hybrid of remote and in-office)
- Position: Full-time salaried
- Supervisors: NI Germany’s Directors
- Periodic travel required
Job Functions:
- Programs and Events
- Through consultations with NI’s directors, refugees, and survivors, build events and programs aimed at aiding the refugee community and at supporting NI’s mission.
- Stakeholder engagement – building strong, long-term relationships
- Event planning and publicity
- Budget management
- Communications and reporting on activities.
- Advocacy and Communications
- Assist Nadia in planning and preparation for advocacy trips as requested
- Oversee communications of NI’s key materials and messages being prepared for a German audience
- Finance, Fundraising, and Operations
- Manage Funds held by NI Germany
- Write proposals and reports for donors
- Take care of the office, check the mail, and communicate with the association’s membership as requested
- Ensure compliance, alongside professionals, with German law, tax, and regulations.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years experience in the nonprofit sector or other mission-related sectors
- Background in human rights, women’s rights, or related fields including managing projects with a multitude of stakeholders
- Previous experience in working with refugees preferred
- Strong track record of working with a board or management committee effectively
- Passion for a survivor and community-centric approach that are at the bedrock of NI’s values
- Strong communication skills, both spoken and written, and in groups both small and large
- Self-starter comfortable working very independently most days
- Native-level German and fluency in English required.
