The Multimedia Specialist at CIMMYT is responsible for creating and managing multimedia content, primarily focusing on video production and photography. This role involves capturing, editing, and delivering high-quality visual materials to support the organization's communication and outreach efforts. The Multimedia Specialist collaborates closely with the communications team and other stakeholders to effectively convey CIMMYT's mission and impact through engaging and compelling multimedia assets.

Key Responsibilities:

Video Production:

•Plan, shoot, and edit videos that highlight CIMMYT's research, projects, and initiatives.

•Conduct interviews, capture footage, and record audio to create informative and visually appealing videos.

•Edit and enhance video content using industry-standard software, ensuring high production quality and adherence to branding guidelines.

•Incorporate graphics, animations, and special effects to enhance video storytelling.

•Manage video equipment, including cameras, lighting, and audio devices.

Photography:

•Capture high-quality photographs that effectively showcase CIMMYT's research activities, events, and key personnel.

•Utilize various photography techniques, equipment, and lighting setups to produce visually compelling images.

•Edit and retouch photographs to enhance their visual impact and ensure consistency with CIMMYT's brand guidelines.

•Organize and maintain an organized database of visual assets, including metadata and captions, for easy retrieval and usage.

Multimedia Content Development:

•Collaborate with the communications team and other stakeholders to understand their multimedia requirements and objectives.

•Conceptualize, storyboard, write scripts in English and Spanish, and propose multimedia projects that effectively communicate CIMMYT's scientific work and achievements.

•Stay up-to-date with multimedia trends, techniques, and technologies to continuously improve the quality and impact of CIMMYT's visual content.

•Adapt multimedia materials for various platforms, including websites, social media, presentations, and publications.

Project Management and Collaboration:

•Manage multiple multimedia projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery and meeting stakeholder expectations.

•Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including researchers, scientists, communications professionals, and external vendors, to gather requirements and execute projects effectively.

•Provide guidance and technical expertise on multimedia best practices, tools, and resources to colleagues within CIMMYT.

•Bachelor's degree in multimedia production, videography, photography, visual arts, or a related field.

•Proven experience in video production, including scripting, shooting, editing, and post-production processes.

•Proficiency in industry-standard video editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or similar tools.

•Strong photography skills with a keen eye for composition, lighting, and visual storytelling.

•Proficient in photo editing software like Adobe Photoshop or Lightroom.

•Excellent knowledge of videography equipment, including cameras, audio devices, and lighting setups.

•Familiarity with multimedia project management and ability to handle multiple projects concurrently.

•Strong creative and conceptual thinking abilities, with the ability to translate ideas into visually appealing multimedia content.

•Excellent organizational and time management skills to meet project deadlines.

•Good communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

•Knowledge of agricultural research or related fields is a plus.
