Green Investment Officer
The Green Investment Officer will support GGGI's Indonesia country program and its national and sub-national partners to originate and design commercially viable investment projects primarily focusing on GGGI thematic areas and Sustainable Finance track, i.e., renewable energy and energy efficiency, sustainable transportation, sustainable landscape, and waste management. S/he will support the development of bankable business cases, financial models, specialized funds and facilities, and project proposals to attract funding from appropriate funding institutions and agencies such as international funds, bilateral and multilateral funding mechanisms, private equity funds, guarantee funds, and other investors.
The scope of work will include engaging with the Government of Indonesia (GoI), private and public-sector finance institutions and initiatives i.e., PT SMI, Indonesia Infrastructure Finance, the Indonesia Environment Fund (BPDLH).

PURPOSE
The Green Investment Officer will work as part of GGGI Indonesia's country program, in close collaboration with government partners in the different ministries with an overall aim to support the achievement of Indonesia's NDC targets.
The Investment Officer will have the following tasks and duties:
- Originate green investment projects pipelines and program concepts that can support the country's green policy targets.
- Lead the preparation of concept notes and conducts analysis for existing and potential investment opportunities.
- Responsible for identifying investment options and structures, innovative financing mechanisms, and/or de-risking mechanisms to overcome regulatory and institutional barriers for green investments.
- Prepare investment documentation for identified projects with the team, including investment briefs and memorandum, presentations, financial models, and scenario analyses for potential public and private investors.
- Support writing, revising, and editing of funding proposals, involving risk analysis, objectively verifiable indicators, and other investment and finance-related sections.
- Assist with and conduct pre-feasibility assessments for sustainable energy business models with relevant stakeholders, including GoI partners, financial institutions, private sector developers, etc.
ENGAGEMENT
The Green Investment Officer will:
- Identify and engage with relevant public and private sector stakeholders, such as private companies, GoI staff, development partners, NGOs, and Universities.
- Engage financial institutions and commercial lenders in the development of projects to ensure that the initiatives projects adequately represent their vision, interests, criteria and objectives.
- Obtain endorsement from GoI partners and other relevant stakeholders as required.
- Provide ad-hoc support as a member of the integrated GGGI Investment Team to GGGI technical teams and operations for documentation and logistics in the development of the GGGI project portfolio. Carry out other ad hoc assignments in line with GGGI's mandate and targets for Indonesia.
- Assist and coordinate the provincial investment work with the GGGI provincial representatives related to the energy sector.
- Engage closely with relevant stakeholders in energy sectors to enhance their skills, knowledge, and capabilities.
- Coordinate with GGGI colleagues in other countries especially those working on the Energy investment programs/projects.
- Coordinate with GGGI colleagues in Indonesia and HQ to support and assist in resource mobilization and investment mobilization.
DELIVERY
The candidate is expected to deliver the following:
- Identify and develop commercially bankable projects that will be attractive to government partners, financial institutions, and private sector.
- Deliver high-quality investment documentation including business case, financial, and risk analysis for projects in development or under evaluation, including financial modelling with limited supervision
- Develop projects by collecting and analyzing market data to support the identification of new investment programs.
- Organize the delivery of sustainable energy investment workstreams with tight deadlines and manage a small team (consisting of staff members and consultants).
- Support mobilizing climate finance and investments in green growth sectors in Indonesia, including renewable energy, energy efficiency, and waste management business models.
- Produce high-quality proposals for investment projects in the Green Growth sectors.
- Deliver various documents (or portions of documents) in support of project design, institutional capacity-building, and internal and external program reporting.

REQUIREMENTS
QUALIFICATIONS
The successful applicant must demonstrate outstanding professional competence and hold exemplary and relevant academic credentials. As noted, the position requires extensive experience in deal origination and financial analysis skills in the Energy sector. Knowledge of Indonesian policy and governance in the energy sectors and/or other Green Growth sectors, commercial risk assessment, project finance, debt instruments and multi-stakeholder collaboration is needed. Practical experience in arranging investments, pitching of bankable projects and/or investment structuring is important.
Specifically, the application should provide convincing evidence of the following:
- A bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business management or economics. An advanced degree (master's or equivalent) will be an advantage. Relevant financial certifications like CFA, FRM, etc. will be an added advantage.
- A minimum of six (5) years of relevant professional experience related to bankable project development and financial modeling in the green growth development sector, including at least several years of experience in Indonesia.
- A proven track record in successful financial analysis, financial modeling with scenario analysis and credit risk assessment is required.
- Solid understanding of various financial products, debt/equity instruments being used in the Indonesian finance/investment sector. Direct working experience with any of these products will be an advantage.
- Excellent Indonesian and English writing skills are a must, writing examples might be requested as part of the selection procedure. Knowledge of additional key business languages will be an advantage.
- Understanding of the socio-political and cultural contexts of Green Growth governance in Indonesia
- Experience working directly with one or more Investment banks/ Private Equity/ multi laterals would be an advantage.
- A network of professional contacts among financial institutions and impact investors would be an added advantage.
- A good track record of working on complex investment processes, politically sensitive issues with government, banking sector, non-banking financial products and public sector finance is desirable, especially experience with blended finance.

WORKING CONDITIONS
- Green Investment Officer is an X8 grade level in GGGI’s National salary scale. Determination of base salary is subject to candidate's experience, academic background and internal equity.
- GGGI provides 15% of base salary towards retirement plan/long-term savings, 27 days of annual leave, and private health insurance that covers dental and vision.
