Mission and objectives

The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme contributes to peace and development through volunteerism worldwide. We work with partners to integrate qualified, highly motivated and well supported UN Volunteers into development programming and promote the value and global recognition of volunteerism.

Context

The UNV Regional Office for Europe and CIS provides oversight and strategic guidance to the UNV Field Units in the region and is accountable for the placement of UN Volunteers mobilized for UN Agencies, Funds, and Programmes focused on peace, development and humanitarian needs. The UNV Regional Office represents and strategically positions UNV and bring UNV’s services and solutions closer to its partners from governments, UN entities, civil society, and private sector.

Task description

Under the general guidance and supervision of UNV Regional Manager and in consultation with teams from ERCS, VASS, VSS, VSC and Legal, the UN Volunteer Volunteer Management and Partnership Support Associate will undertake the following tasks: Partnership Development and Donor Relations: •With the support of ERCS, support the Regional Manager to strengthen and enhance UNV partnerships with key programme countries Members States to increase resource mobilization through Fully Funded (FF) programmes and the Special Voluntary Fund (SVF) in programmes in the non-field present countries in Europe & CIS, with a main focus in such countries as Uzbekistan, Türkiye and Azerbaijan. •Identify entry points for collaboration with governments to position UNV in strategic resource mobilization efforts for FF and SVF in programme countries. •Liaise with ERCS for SVF/FF mobilizations with Member States and partners that fall under HQ management. •In close coordination with ERCS, Regional Office Communication and Portfolio Teams, develop and provide substantive inputs in partnerships documents (annual reports) and maintain regular communication and follow up on agreed actions with key government entities in the programme countries. Liaising with VSS and VSC: •Serve as a Focal Point for the issues of the Regional Office in liaising with VSS and/or VSC (or other respective UNV sections) such areas as Volunteer Management Cycle, Waivers, Payroll issues, Deployment, Service Desk and the UVP Improvement Group. Learning and capacity strengthening (Buddy Programme): •Serve as a learning Focal Point and provide learning sessions for the personnel of the Regional Office withing the area of expertise in operating Unified Volunteering Platform, CRM Service Desk, PowerBI, Volunteer Management Cycle, Deployment, UNV’s knowledge base and documents such as Conditions of Service and others. Furthermore, UN Volunteers are required to: •Strengthen their knowledge and understanding of the concept of volunteerism by reading relevant UNV and external publications and take active part in UNV activities (for instance in events that mark International Volunteer Day) •Be acquainted with and build on traditional and/or local forms of volunteerism in the host country. •Provide annual and end of assignment reports on UN Volunteer actions, results and opportunities using UNV’s Volunteer Reporting Application. •Contribute articles/write-ups on field experiences and submit them for UNV publications/websites, newsletters, press releases, etc. •Assist with the UNV Buddy Programme for newly-arrived UN Volunteers; •Promote or advise local groups in the use of online volunteering, or encourage relevant local individuals and organizations to use the UNV Online Volunteering service whenever technically possible.
