Mission and objectives
The UNDP Rome Centre for Climate Action and Energy Transition, leads the development and implementation of program of initiatives in agreement with its partners embracing all areas of the globe in which UNDP is active and present, with particular focus on areas of strategic mutual priority and maintaining a focus on the African continent for the period 2022-2024. It is the principal, integrated global platform for the strategic partnership between the Government of Italy (through the Italian Ministry for Ecological Transition – IMET) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and acts as an operational platform for delivering on Youth, Climate and Energy Initiatives. Having heard young people loud and clear, the Government of Italy in collaboration with UNDP hosted the second global Youth4Climate event in September 2022, with a strong focus on implementation and on young people powering climate action, in order to meet some of the key aspirations of young people, in particular by signaling enhanced support to youth-led and youth-inclusive solutions and initiatives for climate action and ambition to be implemented in collaboration with UNDP.
Context
The Youth4Climate has a strong focus on supporting the implementation of youth-led and youth-inclusive climate solutions, both financially and in-kind, for a more sustained climate impact on the ground. One of the components in achieving this is the Y4C call for solutions. Youth and Youth-led initiatives will have the opportunity to apply for the call with their innovative ideas and awardees will receive both financial and technical support to implement their projects. Apart from granting awards to the selected candidates, Y4C extends a learning opportunity to enhance awareness on the call, workshops in thematic areas, and personal/team development in collaboration with our partners and Online Volunteers.
