Duties and Responsibilities
Daily responsibilities will depend on the individual's background, the intern's assigned office as well as the internship period. Duties may include, but are not limited to: 1. Create media advisories, press releases, press reviews, talking points, statements, news stories, etc., in both English and Arabic. 2. Contribute to maintaining and updating UN Egypt's website as well as UN Egypt and UNIC Cairo’s social media platforms (Facebook, X, YouTube, etc.) with pertinent UN-related news and events in English and Arabic. 3. Offer media support for events and campaigns organized by UNIC Cairo. 4. Aid in the coordination of press conferences, meetings, briefings, and other public relations events conducted by UNIC-Cairo. 5. Capture photographs and videos to support media coverage and archival purposes. 6. Assist in handling other ad-hoc activities as directed.
Qualifications/special skills
The United Nations internship program is crafted to offer recent university graduates and current university students an opportunity to deeply engage with the work of the United Nations, enhancing their educational foundation and nurturing practical skills. Consequently, individuals applying to the program must fulfill one of the following criteria at the time of application: 1. Currently hold a university degree or at least have completed the final academic year of a first university degree program (attaining at least a bachelor's level or its equivalent). This initiative aims to actively involve fresh university graduates and students, providing them with valuable exposure to the workings of the United Nations and contributing to their professional growth. -Be computer literate in standard software applications; -Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter; and Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter; and -Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views. No working experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme. Your training, education, advance course work or skills should benefit the United Nations during your internship.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations. For this internship, fluency in written and spoken English and Arabic is required. Knowledge of French is desirable.
