Our team and mission

The YGT position is located in Quality and Supply Chain Management Section in the Quality, Dependability and PA Support Division; Product Assurance and Safety Department of the Directorate for Technology, Engineering and Quality. The Quality and Supply Chain Management Section is responsible for the development, implementation and maintenance of quality and supply chain management expertise and standards. The Section provides quality management support to ESA corporate areas, manages accreditation and certification schemes, ESA Alerts and supports the evaluation and monitoring of the ESA supply chain quality. Furthermore, it is hosting the Department’s technical IT Team and supports the development, maintenance and operations of data systems for the department’s core activities.

Field(s) of activity/research for the traineeship

As a Young Graduate Trainee, you will provide expert support to the section activities in the area of quality, with specific focus on Quality Assurance and Management System (QMS) process and data analysis and integration.

 

Typical duties are:

  • Learning about the Quality Assurance and Management activities in the Directorate of Technology, Engineering and Quality, including review of existing processes and tools, support in the definition of new processes in compliance with ISO9001 standard,
  • Collection and analysis of quality statistical data, including data relevant to internal processes (audits, Non-conformances, Alerts, etc.)
  • Supporting the activities for ALERTS and Certification to collect necessary information and maintain the data register and updates. 
  • Supporting maintenance, improvements and statistical analyses of related sites and systems, aiming at finding and implementing synergies and simplifications,
  • Liaising with other ESA Directorate’s to find and further exploit synergies, learning and planning optimisation;
  • Supporting the preparation and contributing to the related meetings, trainings and Workshops

 

Duties may also include supporting other activities within your field of competence.

Education

You should have just completed or be in the final year of your master’s degree in engineering. 

Additional requirements

You should have good interpersonal and communication skills and should be able to work in a multicultural environment, both independently and as part of a team.

Additional requirements:

  • Master degree in engineering, preferably related to quality and/or space;
  • Experience in analytical and statistical tools and methods;
  • Experience and/or knowledge in the definition and implementation of internal processes;
  • Knowledge of ESA and its programmes and projects;
  • Knowledge of ISO9001:2015 and other standards (e.g. EN9100, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001 or ISO 2700) is considered an asset;
  • Knowledge of ECSS standards is considered an asset;
  • Experience with PowerBi is considered an asset,
  • Good communication skill;

 

Ability to work independently and establish good working relations with relevant actors in ESA and Industry.

 

The working languages of the Agency are English and French. A good knowledge of one of these is required. Knowledge of another Member State language would be an asset.
