Overview

Under funding from Gavi, the vaccine alliance, Jhpiego is implementing the “Demand, Communities, and Gender: Engaging men as caregivers and supporting successful parenting towards improved immunization outcomes and equitable health services” (“Men’s engagement in immunization”) project in collaboration with ministries of health and other stakeholders in Pakistan.

 

The project goal is to contribute towards Gavi gender strategy for “increasing understanding of programmatic interventions that overcome gender-related barriers, specifically engaging male caregivers and supporting successful parenting towards improved immunization outcomes and more equitable health services.”

 

The project will be implemented within two districts of the provinces of Sindh and Balochistan. Jhpiego seeks to hire two Provincial Program Officers, one based in Quetta, and one based in Karachi, to provide oversight the project implementation activities and assure the timely execution of project activities with the intervention sites. The detailed responsibilities of these provincial level positions are as follows;

Responsibilities

Provincial Program Officers will support the team and Technical Advisor, Gender and Research Jhpiego to:

  • Support the project team in executing of project activities.
  • Coordinate and follow up with project partners, including (CSOs), government departments and other related stakeholders.
  • Ensuring the program activities are planned and implemented in a timely manner in the intervention sites.
  • Ensure timely submission of monthly or quarterly activity reports from partners to project team.
  • Ensure that partners submit timely monthly or quarterly financial returns.
  • Supervise partner Local CSOs/NGOs) activities and data collection.
  • Ensure timely submission of project data in both soft and hard copies.
  • Ensure the pace and quality of project activities and providing updates to project team on timely basis
  • Support team in the coordination of training sessions, couples’ discussion group sessions, meetings, and other project related activities in the targeted districts.
  • Participate in project activities, including workshops and project meetings.
  • Support the project team in maintaining project stakeholder relationship within the district.
  • Share relevant material and information with partner organization.
  • Develop good relationships with media and other information offices.
  • Any other task assigned by the Supervisor.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, public health advanced degree preferred with program experience of 3-5 years preferably immunization and research related programs.
  • Strong understanding of community-based intervention and feasibility studies
  • Strong liaising skills with government and EPI program.
  • Experience of supervising/leading team
  • Proven communication, coordination, and documentation skills.
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills in English and Urdu
  • Demonstrated skills collaboration with other implementing partners
  • Ability to work in a complex environment with multiple tasks, short deadlines and intense pressure to perform
  • Excellent writing, data collection, analysis and reporting skills
  • Excellent facilitation, oral and written communications skills
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 25% of time
