About the Role:

As the Purchasing and Logistics Manager, your role will help manage a dedicated purchasing and supply chain team within the logistics department in Senegal. You will meticulously manage all purchasing and logistics activities, including procurement, transportation, and warehousing, to ensure the efficient delivery of goods. You will address purchasing and logistics challenges, and introduce solutions while upholding principles of stewardship, integrity, transparency, and accountability. This role may also involve managing a team of buyers and field agents, necessitating managerial skills.

 

You Will:

  • Develop and implement a purchasing strategy following organizational objectives.
  • Handle supplier/company relations and negotiate purchasing contracts.
  • Coordinate with other teams to plan their procurement needs and help draw up specifications.
  • Manage a team of buyers and field agents, ensuring their performance and overseeing logistics and risk management.
  • Oversee the entire logistics chain, including procurement, transportation, and warehousing, to ensure efficient delivery of goods.
  • Manage talent and oversee a team. Assess performance to ensure capacity for successful support of high-quality teams.
  • Collaborate with direct reports and programming leads to strengthen the pipeline and supply chain management plan.
  • Ensure compliance with myAgro and country regulations, and international and local standards.
  • Design and implement a strategic sourcing and procurement process to identify, assess, select, and contract suppliers.
  • Manage logistical infrastructure, storage facilities, transportation resources, and inventory control.
  • Implement comprehensive goods tracking and record-keeping systems throughout the supply chain cycle.
  • Prepare and submit reports promptly.

 

You Have:

 

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain or other relevant degree.
  • 5 years work experience in supply chain/procurement management with progressive responsibilities with relief supply chain management.
  • Knowledge of and experience with different public donors' regulations. Understanding of the Federal Acquisitions Regulations (FAR), WHO regulations and Generally Accepted Commodity Accountability Principles (GACAP).
  • Knowledge of national and international import/export legislation and common customs regulations.
  • Staff management experience with the ability to foster a learning environment.
  • Experience with ERP systems.

  • Excellent planning, coordination, and prioritization.
  • Ethical conduct following recognized organizational codes of ethics.
  • Work collaboratively within a diverse team environment.
  • Proficiency in French and English.
