The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) is a multilateral development bank whose mission is financing the Infrastructure for Tomorrow—infrastructure with sustainability at its core. The AIIB’s Investment Operations are divided into two regions, 1 and 2. Each region is led by a Vice President (VP) and reporting staff includes technical specialists and bankers. Region 1 is responsible for South East Asia, the Pacific Islands and South Asia (except Pakistan and Afghanistan), while Region 2 covers Pakistan, Afghanistan, Central Asia, East Asia, West Asia, Europe, Africa and Latin America.

The Banking Department has the following business lines: (i) Capital Markets and Structured Products, (ii) Digital Infrastructure and Other Productive Sectors, (iii) Financial Institutions and Syndication, and (iv) Private Equity.

The Investment Officer, Private Equity (region 2) is expected to work with other team members on the origination and execution of equity market investments (such as indirect equity investments via private equity funds as well as direct equity investments both in corporate platforms and in specific projects) in thePrivate Equity Sector. This Investment Officer will work closely with other relevant AIIB departments.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work on the origination and execution of investment projects in Private Equity Sector;
  • Perform research on projects and clients;
  • Arrange, prepare and lead for client meetings. This could include preparing presentations, memos and reports, etc.;
  • Represent the Banking Department in internal meetings coordination, participation, following up and reporting;
  • Lead project teams of legal, technical and safeguard specialists to conduct the due diligence of investment proposals through internal investment committees
  • Support internal Bank coordination through information exchanges and team work with relevant divisions of the Bank;
  • Support the Department’s team and management in achieving their targets and objectives;
  • Perform ad hoc tasks assigned by the Senior Management of the Department.

Selection Criteria:

  • 5-8 years of relevant work experience in the field of private equity / corporate finance / project finance / structured credit / structured equity / fund of fund gained at a commercial / investment banks / asset management company and / or international financial institutions;
  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree (master’s degree or equivalent preferred) from reputable universities, preferably in business administration or finance;
  • Those with a CFA designation are strongly preferred;
  • Extensive experience in structuring comprehensive solutions across financial products using debt and guarantees, private equity and funds, as other capital market products;
  • Experience in working on investment projects through an established approval process;
  • Strong project lead / management skills. Able to identify, engage and work with different stakeholders across private and public sectors, such as issuers, institutional investors, regulators, banks and other intermediaries;
  • Strong financial, analytical and modeling skills;
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, and organizational abilities, as well as excellent written and oral communication skills; and
  • Fluency in English, both oral and written, is a must.
  • Knowledge of another language would be an advantage 
  • Experience in Asian markets is strongly preferred.
