We are a non-profit organisation supporting and empowering civil society and independent media across Eastern Europe, South Caucasus and Central Asia. We are looking for a diligent and organised colleague with an interest in the region and an interest for our mission to join our Eastern Europe section of the Grants team.

About the position:

Grants Officer (GO) will be supporting the Eastern Europe section of the Grants team by overseeing a particular country, regional or thematic portfolio of grants. The Grants Officer supervises implementation of grants throughout the entire life cycle. Contracting, processing payments, monitoring and documentation of project results are at the core of the responsibilities of the GO.

Primary tasks & responsibilities

Managing the projects throughout entire life-cycle: assessment, contracting, reporting and close-out

Tracking project implementation and regular update of the grant-making database to ensure that the projects are on track and all data is timely and properly stored

Liaising with the grantees for approving changes to project design, budget and/or timeline and for processing of payments

Overseeing an internal evaluation of grants outcomes;

Ensures comprehensive and audit-ready files are maintained up to date and available for the country team/audit purposes

Other tasks related to the implementation of grants and communication with partners per assignment of the team manager; the Grants Officer is primary contact and communication point to the partners

Key Requirements

Ability to work independently and prioritise tasks;

Diligent and accurate approach to work; attention to detail is important

Fluency in written and spoken English and Russian

Excellent computer skills (MS Word and Excel) and cybersecurity literacy;

Excellent communication skills, team-spirit and capacity to work in a multi-national team;

Previous work experience, especially in a relevant field, (grant making, project administration or project management), is a strong advantage. However, recent graduates may apply with the view to grow in the position over time.

How to Apply

The position is full-time (40 hours per week), and is based in our office in the centre of Prague. The salary for this position is competitive for the NGO environment. Starting salary for this position is CZK 40,500 on full-time and would depend on experience and added value to the role.

The Centre provides 25 days of annual leave, contributions to language courses, and other development opportunities as well as psychology sessions, and full coverage of phone tariff.
