Position title: Intern, Country Programme Delivery (Core Countries)
Position type: Internship - up to6 months

Purpose of the position: Provide programmatic support to the Core Country Team, focusing on the grant management processes and cross cutting analysis.

Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance is a public-private partnership committed to saving children's lives and protecting people's health by increasing equitable use of vaccines in lower-income countries. The Vaccine Alliance brings together implementing country and donor governments, the World Health Organisation, UNICEF, the World Bank, the vaccine industry, technical agencies, civil society, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and other private sector partners. Gavi uses innovative finance mechanisms, including co-financing by recipient countries, to secure sustainable funding and adequate supply of quality vaccines. Since 2000, Gavi has contributed to the immunisation of more than one billion children and the prevention of more than 16 million future deaths. 

THE ROLE

Gavi’s Core Team is looking for an English and French speaking intern to provide programmatic support to regional team portfolio in Africa. They will work closely with the Team Senior Programme Assistant, focusing on the grant management process and cross-cutting analysis.

MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

•     Support Grants closure processes in regional portfolio, in close collaboration with Senior Programme Assistants, Program Managers and Program Finance focal points

•     Support contracting related tasks

•     Support drafting and translating of short communications to countries and partners.

•     Support robust knowledge management (e.g., ensuring databases and repositories are up to date, record keeping).

•     Monitor and update relevant trackers, as well as keep track of deadlines and outstanding items required from countries.

•     Support cross-cutting analysis within the portfolio.

•     Other support as needed to maintain and further strengthen team efficiency and effectiveness.


QUALIFICATIONS
ACADEMIC

•    Bachelor’s degree in relevant area.

•    Candidates with familiarity with the Africa region are particularly encouraged to apply.

SKILLS/COMPETENCIES

•    Excellent interpersonal skills and modelling of positive team behaviours that foster teamwork and trust. An open, humble, and ‘can-do’ attitude.

•    Multitask, track, and manage many active priorities in parallel, prioritising between multiple important tasks but not dropping other tasks, and structuring work to meet deadlines.

•    Deliver clear, concise, and coherent messages orally and in writing, adapted to intended audience.

•    Resilience to work in a high-pressure environment with tight timelines, maintaining a sense of proportion and of humour.

LANGUAGES
•    Fluency in French and  in English.
•    Portuguese is an asset.
