Mission and objectives
The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) is a United Nations agency mandated to aid and protect refugees, forcibly displaced communities, and stateless people, and to assist in their voluntary repatriation, local integration or resettlement to a third country.
Context
At UNHCR, we are investing and empowering forcibly displaced and stateless persons and supporting refugee-led organizations (RLOs). UNHCR’s Grant Agreements and the Refugee-led Innovation Fund illustrate our grassroots approach, ensuring that people with lived experiences of displacement are directly provided with much needed financial resources, along with programmatic and organizational support, to implement critical projects. UNHCR receives a large volume of applications from RLOs in the Middle East and North Africa region, and we would like to provide tailored support to these organizations in their preferred Arabic language.
Task description
We are seeking one Online Volunteer to support us by translating written documents on humanitarian innovation projects between Arabic and English. To this end the Online Volunteers are asked to: 1) To proofread the following Arabic-translated documents and ensure the translation is accurate, concise, in line with our communications guidelines, and fits the audience: - Internal messages for Broadcast and login screen - Texts on our website’s Fund pages - Innovation Fund Application forms - Four project proposal forms 2) To translate the following documents from English to Arabic: - Social media cards and key messages promoting the Refugee-led Innovation Fund - Communications Guidance (5 pages) - Submitted innovation applications 3) To provide Arabic-English interpretation in online meetings when required.
