Adviser/Senior Adviser Information Management is one of 13 experts working in the Technical unit. The unit works in support of the international humanitarian operations supported by the Norwegian Red Cross. The unit is responsible for establishing technical standards and guidance, including for information and results management.

This position contributes to enhancing the humanitarian impact of NorCross’ international work through supporting better and more informed decision-making at operational and strategic level. The team works closely with the operational teams at country, regional and headquarter level in improving the information management and use of data in Norwegian RC supported operations

Main tasks

  • Support designing IM systems, analysis and data recording systems for monitoring NorCross’ international portfolio, with a particular focus on emergency response operations
  • Lead the extraction, analysis and validation of data related to emergency operations, including producing various Information Management products
  • Regularly examine data reporting to locate and resolve mistakes throughout
  • Accurately analyse and collect internal and external data and develop relevant insights through for example dashboards and visuals to support decision-making, reporting, and analysis.
  • Contribute to improve the quality and relevance of reported data.
  • Facilitate improved accessibility to information on the international portfolio, and in particular for emergency response

Qualifications

  • Advanced University Degree in relevant field.
  • Minimum three years of experience as an information management advisor, reporting or data analyst or other relevant experience
  • Ability to use SQL, Power BI, and Microsoft Excel, or similar, to create pivot tables, graphs and charts
  • Analytical skills that allow for the development of data-informed reports
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively relate data to coworkers and management
  • Excellent critical thinking skills to inform decisions-making
  • Direct experience with the humanitarian or development sector an asset
  • Familiarity with principles and current approaches to monitoring and evaluation of humanitarian programs using both quantitative and qualitative methods an asset

  • Fluency in English
