BACKGROUND

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Data Analytics Intern to join the Data Governance & Analytics team, under Knowledge Management & Technology Solutions. In this role, you will work closely with our data analytics team to develop and deliver data analytics solution to analyze information, identify trends and patterns, and generate insights for business units and senior leadership.

The data analytics intern will play a pivotal role in supporting the most-urgent data and analytics initiatives enabling faster decision-making process and learning for business team and senior leadership, through-out the delivery of business analytics services, data analysis, data access, integrated data reuse and vastly improved time-to-solution for Gavi’s data and analytics initiatives. 

The position reports to the Data Analytics Manager at Data Governance & Analytics (DGA) team. DGA team works on increasing Gavi's data and analytical capability to ensure that we use the right data in the right way to learn and to come to the right decisions. We are working (1) to establish a culture of treating data as an asset, (2) to develop a culture of protecting Gavi's data, and (3) to develop a culture of data-driven insights.

This role will require both technical capabilities to build and deliver data products, as well as strong communication skills to effectively engage with various stakeholders.


MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

•Supports the delivery of data products; The data products include but not limited to dashboards, data models, as well as documents.

•Ensure quality and continuity of data and analytics services and capabilities in collaboration with Service delivery team. 

•Works closely with data analytics managers, KMTS, and business units to deliver knowledge sharing, mentoring, and training.

•Engage with stakeholders to understand the decision-making process, workflows, business process, data consumption, and information/data needs of business. Translates needs into analytics/reporting/data flows requirements with required information to support executive decisions, and learning.

•Interacts with data governance manager, enterprise architect and other subject matter experts to understand how information is collected, stored, modelled, tagged, catalogued, secured, and governed. Participate in ensuring compliance and governance during data use. 

•Participates and contributes to POCs (Proof-of-Concept); Potential POCs include but not limited to solutions based on Artificial Intelligence and new data analytics platform.

QUALIFICATIONS

Academic: 

•Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science, information systems, business administration or related field, or equivalent work experience.

Skills/Competencies:

•Proficiency in Business Intelligence tools such as Power BI and Tableau.

•Strong understanding of data ecosystem, including data warehouse and data lake.

•Proficiency in Python/R and/or SQL is an advantage.

•Solid understanding of Artificial Intelligence is strongly preferred.

•Experience of using cloud platform including Microsoft Azure is a plus.

•Basic understanding of in data governance, data quality, data security, data privacy, as well as the agile concepts is a plus.

•Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to details.

•Strong customer-oriented service skills. Excellent written, verbal communication and presentation skills are required, including ability to work and influence executive and technical personnel. 

•Strong team player with an ability to work independently and as in a team environment. 

•Ability to meet deadlines under strict timeframes, handle multiple tasks and work under pressure. 


 Languages: 

•Fluency in written and spoken English;

•Other UN languages is an advantage.
