Mission and objectives

The United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA) was established by Security Council resolution 2100 of 25 April 2013 to support political processes in the country and to carry out a number of security-related tasks. The Mission has been asked to support the transitional authorities of Mali in the stabilization of the country and implementation of the transitional roadmap, focusing on major population centers and lines of communication, protecting civilians, human rights monitoring, the creation of conditions for the provision of humanitarian assistance and the return of displaced persons, the extension of State authority and the preparation of free, inclusive and peaceful elections. Context

Task description

Under the direct supervision of Chief Property Disposal Unit, the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks: - Assist in organizing and planning the disposal of all Written-Off Materials: Fixed Assets, Equipment, Expendables/Consumables and Waste Materials; - Participate in the inspection of assets recommended for write-off as a member of Board of Survey (BOS) together with Property Management Unit and Technical Section’s representatives. - Ensure all disposal procedures for United Nations equipment and hazardous waste are correctly applied in accordance to UN rules and regulations and UN Environmental policy. - Assist in segregation, classification and storing of property and hazardous waste in Property Disposal yard. - Participate in physical verification of equipment and materials in PDU yard and ensure hazardous waste are managed in environmentally sound manner. - Update Property Disposal Database and prepare discrepancy and incident report. Assist in the preparation of PDU regional weekly report. - Prepare Property Release Voucher, Disposal certificate, gate pass and release materials approved for final disposal. - Ensure records of all support documents for disposal are kept in both electronical and hard copy. - Arrange and manage property or income generating waste approved for disposal by sale in lots. - Assist in the preparation of task order for contractor and corresponding sales order in Umoja. - Support in organizing the PDU yard. - Coordinate collection of waste with Contractor based on Key Performance Indicators (KPI) in the contract. - Assist in procurement process through participating in bidders site visit. - Perform any other duties as requested by the supervisor.
