Overview

Jhpiego, an affiliate of Johns Hopkins University USA and a leading advocate for enhancing healthcare for women and families worldwide, seeks a Senior Technical Officer to bolster program implementation efforts. The incumbent will facilitate workshops with key stakeholders, including planners, policymakers, and implementers, to disseminate lessons learned and document best practices amidst the pandemic. They will spearhead the development of a comprehensive report outlining pandemic-related insights and future strategies. Additionally, the role involves supporting Jhpiego's endeavor to compile lessons learned and best practices for reinforcing routine immunization and healthcare services, particularly in adult vaccination programs.

Responsibilities

Conduct Literature Review on Global and Regional Pandemic Lessons Learned:

  • Undertake a comprehensive review of existing literature on best practices, challenges, and adaptations in response to pandemics globally and regionally.
  • Synthesize findings to identify key insights, lessons learned, and innovative strategies relevant to strengthening routine immunization (RI) and healthcare services.

Support Workshops with Stakeholders:

  • Assist in organizing and facilitating workshops targeting planners, policymakers, and implementers involved in developing and implementing COVID-19 policies
  • Contribute expertise to discussions aimed at identifying challenges, sharing best practices, and fostering collaboration to strengthen RI and vaccination in adult groups

Develop Toolkits for Data Collection and Focus Group Discussions (FGDs):

  • Create comprehensive toolkits to guide the collection of relevant data and the conduct of Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) with stakeholders.
  • Ensure toolkits are tailored to effectively capture qualitative and quantitative information necessary for identifying best practices and lessons learned.

Conduct Surveys of Vaccination Sites:

  • Conduct surveys at various vaccination sites, including both public and private facilities.
  • Assess existing models for screening chronic diseases and identify practices that could be beneficial for future adult preventive primary healthcare needs and enhancing RI.

Document Findings and Generate Technical Report:

  • Document all findings from literature reviews, workshops, data collection activities, and surveys.
  • Synthesize collected data and insights into a comprehensive technical report.
  • Provide clear and actionable recommendations for strengthening routine immunization and healthcare services based on the identified best practices and lessons learned.
  • Remain flexible to undertake any additional activities as deemed appropriate by the supervisor. Respond promptly and effectively to ad-hoc requests or tasks related to the project objectives and goals.

Required Qualifications

  • MBBS or Master’s degree in Epidemiology or Public Health or related field
  • Atleast 5 years’ experience of working in Public health programs with significant skills in communication, report writing and conducting key informant interviews with policy makers.
  • Experience in similar capacity with good understanding of roles of government, partners and donor agencies during pandemic will be a plus
  • Strong programming, management and technical skills, with specific experience managing activities
  • Excellent proficiency in English and adept report writing skills
  • Knowledge of health information system is required
  • Computer literacy including proficient use of Microsoft Office applications (Excel), MIS, and HIS)
  • Capability to swiftly analyze and assimilate information from diverse sources
  • Strong team player with a comprehensive understanding of field programs
  • Proficiency in managing multiple major activities concurrently
  • Adaptability to work effectively in a complex environment with tight deadlines and high-pressure situations
  • Exceptional skills in facilitation, team building, and coordination
