The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) serves as the foremost global environmental authority, responsible for establishing the global environmental agenda. UNEP actively promotes the coordinated integration of environmental sustainability within the broader framework of sustainable development across the United Nations system. Within UNEP, the Corporate Services Division plays a pivotal role in safeguarding the organization's corporate interests. This entails managing and mitigating risks, as well as providing essential support through the development of management tools, strategic plans, and capacity-building initiatives. The division is committed to ensuring that UNEP's operations are conducted efficiently and effectively, adhering to the organization's stringent accountability requirements, rules, regulations, and core UN values. This UNV assignment is part of UNEP's broader effort to standardize reporting procedures across various stakeholders, including individual units, divisions, senior management, and member states. The initiative aims to introduce a unified reporting tool that will be consistently applied throughout the organization

Task description

Within the delegated authority and under the direct supervision of UNEP Business Intelligence Team Leader, the UN Volunteer Data Analyst will undertake the following tasks: • Assist in the creation of interactive content to promote Power BI and its usage in the organization. • Assist in development and maintenance of PowerApps. • Assist in the creation of stories in SAP Analytics Cloud and promote the use of SAP its usage in the organization. • Assist in gathering and documenting requirements from corporate dashboards consumers as well as in the front-end design of dashboards. • Assists with capacity building to UNEP BI Focal Points across the organization in dashboards/reports/stories building. • Assists with data acquisition and data cleansing and data quality assurance. • Assists in maintaining databases, with data collection efforts, create statistics. • Assists with the identification and analysis of patterns in data using standard techniques. • Assists with the preparation of data sets and responds to queries; and maintains/updates reports/dashboards. • Assist in the extraction of data sets from SAP business objects. • Any other related tasks may be required or assigned by the supervisor. Furthermore, UN Volunteers are required to: • Strengthen their knowledge and understanding of the concept of volunteerism by reading relevant UNV and external publications and take active part in UNV activities (for instance in events that mark International Volunteer Day). • Be acquainted with and build on traditional and/or local forms of volunteerism in the host country. • Reflect on the type and quality of voluntary action that they are undertaking, including participation in ongoing reflection activities. • Contribute articles/write-ups on field experiences and submit them for UNV publications/websites, newsletters, press releases, etc. • Assist with the UNV Buddy Programme for newly arrived UN Volunteers. • Promote or advise local groups in the use of online volunteering or encourage relevant local individuals and organizations to use the UNV Online Volunteering service whenever technically possible. Results/Expected Outputs • Contribute to transition of Umoja BI to Umoja Analytics in UNEP. • Contribute to capacity building of UNEP BI focal points. • The development of capacity through coaching, mentoring, and formal on-the-job training, when working with (including supervising) national staff or (non-) governmental counterparts, including Implementing Partners (IPs) • Age, Gender, and Diversity (AGD) perspective is systematically applied, integrated, and documented in all activities throughout the assignment. • A final statement of achievements towards volunteerism for peace and development during the assignment, such as reporting on the number of volunteers mobilized, activities participated in, and capacities developed.
