Mission and objectives

UN Women Uzbekistan is working to advance Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment in the country.

Context

UN Women is the youngest UN agency in Uzbekistan which has been requested to have presence in the country by the Government of Uzbekistan. There are various reforms on gender equality and women’s empowerment taking place in the country. Therefore, UN Women has the objective to accelerate the implementation of GEWE agenda in the country. To be able to do this, there will be new programme pillars to be identified and built. Therefore, and administrative assistant who will take part in this pivotal moment is requested. It is expected from the incumbent to be responsible for any kind of administrative work of Country Programme Manager to facilitate the process.

Task description

Under the direct supervision of Head of Office, the UN University Volunteer will undertake the following tasks: • Support with the administrative and logistical support to the formulation and manage-ment of programmes • Provide general administrative and logistical support to the Head of Office in accord-ance with UN Women rules, regulations, policies, and strategies • Contributes to Resource Mobilization efforts • Assists to knowledge building and knowledge sharing Furthermore, UN Volunteers are required to: • Strengthen their knowledge and understanding of the concept of volunteerism by reading relevant UNV and external publications and take active part in UNV activities (for in-stance in events that mark International Volunteer Day); • Be acquainted with and build on traditional and/or local forms of volunteerism in the host country; • Reflect on the type and quality of voluntary action that they are undertaking, including participation in ongoing reflection activities; • Contribute articles/write-ups on field experiences and submit them for UNV publica-tions/websites, newsletters, press releases, etc.; • Assist with the UNV Buddy Programme for newly-arrived UN Volunteers; • Promote or advise local groups in the use of online volunteering, or encourage relevant local individuals and organizations to use the UNV Online Volunteering service whenever technically possible.
