The Opportunity

 

Trocaire Sierra Leone is a partner in a very competitive consortium with Hellen Keller International which will be submitting a proposal to USAID in May 2024.  The grant size is $45 million USD over 5 years.  A core focus of the proposal is to build the capacity of 3 local partners to lead the implementation of more than 20% of the budgeted activities in Year 3, 4, 5.  Trocaire will also lead on a $1 million USD innovation grant and will work with up to 3-5 local partners on innovative pilots that can be rolled out and sustained beyond the project.  Hellen Keller has asked Trocaire to lead on the localisation component.  One of the key positions named in the proposal will be the Localisation & Partnership Lead. This position will offered on an assignee contract for two – three years with the plan to transition the role to a country office contract during the third year of the project.   The position is contingent on Hellen Keller wins the grant.  The expected starting date is in the second half of 2024.

You will report to the Country Director.The job opportunity will be offered on a fixed term contract for 2 years and is based in Freetown, Sierra Leone.

The key responsibilities of this job will be to oversee the localisation component in the SIHSA consortium.  This position will be a part of the program coordination unit.  This position will ensure that 2-3 local organisations capacity has been built within 2 years to transition to directly implementing 20% of the overall USAID grant in Year 3, 4, 5.  This position will mentor 4 national staff members, with the ambition to appoint a member of the team to take over this role in Year 3, 4, 5 of the program.
