Mission and objectives

The United Nations has worked together with the Royal Thai Government and people of Thailand for over fifty years to support inclusive and sustainable development, based on national priorities and plans. The United Nations Country Team consists of 21 UN agencies who have specific programs and activities being carried out in Thailand. Our work is supported by the invaluable partnerships we have with the Royal Thai Government, national stakeholders, civil society, academia, the private sector, donors, and the media. The United Nations Country Team (UNCT) in Thailand is embarking on formulating its new UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSCDF) 2022-2026. The Framework will describe the collective response of the UN system to national development priorities, articulating outcomes (results to be achieved) for the next five years and UN agencies’ responsibilities that are agreed by the Government. The UN in Thailand is also implementing a comprehensive COVID19 Response Plan to support the Royal Government of Thailand to Build Back Better. The Resident Coordinator leads the UN Country Team which is comprised of the representatives of UN entities active in Thailand. The UN Country Team is working together to capitalize on the strengths and comparative advantages of the UN System in-country, to increase impact through coherent programs, as well as to reduce transaction costs.
