Background:

The OSCE Secretariat’s Transnational Threats Department Border Security and Management Unit  (TNTD/BSMU) extra-budgetary project “Strengthening the Resilience of Uzbekistan to Address Cross-Border Challenges Emanating from Afghanistan” (2022-2025) is aimed to increase existing capacities of the border and customs services of Uzbekistan to effectively address cross-border challenges emanating from Afghanistan through provision of tailored training and technical equipment for border, customs officers and private sector personnel working at the border checkpoints and the logistic terminal “Termez Cargo Center” of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The post is part of extra-budgetary (ExB) project “Strengthening the Resilience of Uzbekistan to Address Cross-Border Challenges Emanating from Afghanistan” to be co-located in the Office of OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Uzbekistan (PCUz). (2022-2025). 

Tasks and Responsibilities:

Under the direct supervision of the Chief of Fund Administration of the PCUz and co-ordination the National Project Officer, the Driver is responsible for maintenance, minor repairs of project vehicles and transportation services related to the extra -budgetary Project “Strengthening the Resilience of Uzbekistan to Address Cross-Border Challenges Emanating from Afghanistan.”
1.Drives project staff as instructed, provides delivery and collection of mail, documents and other items for the project staff;
2.Picks up and drops off staff and visitors at the airport. Includes assisting arriving visitors with visa formalities at the airport;
3.Drives visiting delegation of the project as instructed to meetings, training venues, meeting delegations at the border and airport;
4.Responsible for day-to-day maintenance, minor repair and cleanliness of project vehicles, e.g. oil, gas, water, fluids, tires, brakes, etc.;
5.Keep a log of vehicle’s usage; and ensures that the steps required by the rules and regulations are taken in case of involvement in an accident;
6.Performs other tasks as requested.

    Necessary Qualifications:

    Education:
    •Completion of secondary education plus category B and E driver’s licence
    Experience and knowledge/skills:
    •Minimum of one year of professional driving experience with a clean driving record;
    •Experience driving 4x4 vehicles;
    •Experience in basic vehicle maintenance and minor repair is required;
    •Computer literate with practical experience with Microsoft applications;
    • Ability and willingness to work as a member of team, with people of different cultural, and religious backgrounds, different gender, and diverse political views, while maintaining impartiality and objectivity.
    Languages:
    •Good knowledge of Russian and Uzbek language, and working knowledge of English.

    Remuneration Package:

    Monthly remuneration, subject to social security deduction, is USD 637.00 as per the relevant OSCE salary scale.
    Appointment is normally made at step 1 of the applicable OSCE salary scale. At the discretion of the appointing authority a higher step may be approved up to a maximum of step 3 subject to specific conditions.
