To track and analyze existing and proposed policies pertaining to farm animals, help shape improvements in policies and help align them to the strategies developed by HSI/India and the HSI Farm Animal Protection department.
Key Responsibilities:
Policy Advocacy (70%)
Analyze and influence animal welfare legislation and policies.
Build relationships with regulators to improve animal welfare practices.
Track and analyze the impact of government policies on animal agriculture.
Stakeholder Engagement (20%)
Draft communications and materials on animal welfare in agriculture.
Build relationships with stakeholders to negotiate policy alignment.
Organize educational and advocacy events for policymakers, regulators, and scientists.
Represent HSI on animal welfare standards with international bodies.
Develop informative materials on government policies and regulations.
Additional Responsibilities (10%)
Perform other relevant duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
Education: Master's degree in Public Policy & Governance or Law (or equivalent work experience).
Experience:
Minimum 3 years in public policy for the social sector or government office.
Proven experience working with government agencies.
Experience in animal protection (preferred).
Skills:
Research writing and reporting.
Strong written and verbal communication in English and Hindi.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Excellent judgment, time management, and multitasking skills.
Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (as needed).
Additional Preferences:
Comprehensive knowledge of animal protection, specifically farm animal welfare.
Strong interest in animal welfare issues.
