VA focuses on interventions that target the first 1,000 days of life (i.e., from conception through 24 months of age) and children up to 5 years of age. These interventions currently include vitamin A supplementation (VAS) and deworming for children under 5, and now expanding work on Maternal, Infant, and Young Child Nutrition (MIYCN).

About the Role

VA is looking for a Learning Solutions Lead (Consultant) in India, who will strengthen the in-country Learning Solutions unit to develop and deliver high-quality technical assistance and trainings to program partners using adult learning principles. S/he will also work to strengthen VA’s profile as a partner of choice for evidence-based programming and implementation research and develop internal capacities to deliver effective programmatic and technical support. This position will support the Director of Programs, India.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide thought-leadership and strategic direction to VAs Learning Solution (LS) vertical in India and liaison with the LS global team to ensure global LS standards, practices and requirements are met.
  • Design and develop learning experiences, tools and materials, workshops/training content that best suit the subject matter, partner needs, community knowledge and awareness building and continuing education criteria - from establishing learning objectives to designing activities, content, facilitation techniques, SBCC materials, and evaluation feedback.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to tailor educational materials and programs, and develop a wider range of LS solutions, in alignment with the VA’s strategic goals and mission.
  • Lead and manage delivery of learning solutions among program partners, including governments, civil society organisations, hospitals and health centres, through a team of State Program Officers.
  • Contextualize the trainings, knowledge base, and norms to maximize its impact. Ensure the successful delivery of the ToT programs, as required.
  • Work closely with MLE specialist to design and develop tools/methodology to assess training effectiveness and identify improvement initiatives. Design and interpret evaluations for learning programs to ensure maximum ROI.
  • Conduct needs assessment and manage professional learning and internal capacity development initiatives.
  • Create and maintain a robust knowledge-sharing platform to facilitate continuous learning and development within the organization. Stay up-to-date with developments in the healthcare industry and incorporate best practices.
  • Manage budgets, expenses, and relevant training database and LMS platforms for the Learning Solutions unit, in coordination with VA global office.
  • Contribute to reports for dissemination to funders and program partners, new business activities through networking and the development and preparation of proposals for potential donors
  • Participates in local, regional, and national meetings, as requested by the Leadership Team.

Skills and Abilities

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in nutrition education, with a focus on both internal team training and external healthcare provider education.
  • A Master’s degree, or equivalent, in relevant field such as public health/nutrition is preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in working with diverse stakeholders including government, non-profit organizations, and other community groups and organizations.
  • Proven experience in designing, delivering, and evaluating training programs, both in-person and virtually, with adult learning principles.
  • Passion for improving healthcare and a commitment to serving communities in need.
  • Fluent in English & Hindi (written and verbal), fluency in other Indian regional languages is a plus.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural and cross-functional environment.
  • Willingness and ability to travel locally, regionally, and nationally.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing multiple tasks and in organizing and prioritizing work assignments and ongoing duties.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office.
