About Project Jigyaasa
 
Project Jigyaasa is an educational initiative of ActionAid and its Corporate Partners, Siemens Pvt. Ltd., to promote curiosity-based learning using STEM (Science Technology Engineering Mathematics) methodology in government schools. STEM is a curriculum based on the idea of educating students, from the most marginalized communities, in four specific disciplines: science, technology, engineering and mathematics. The curriculum is interdisciplinary in its approach and practical in its application. The overall objective of the project is to redefine educational pedagogy with a focus on building a scientific temper that will enable critical thinking, curiosity and the spirit of learning among the students at government schools.
  • The project is currently running in the cities of Thane, Navi Mumbai, Mumbai Pune, Aurangabad, Nasik, Pune Rural in Maharashtra and in both districts of Goa.
  •  Gandhinagar in Gujrat.
  •  Kolkata in West Bengal
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Visit each school at least twice a month and support teachers as often as possible in STEM teaching.
  • Work with the teachers at their pace to synergize STEM methodology into school curriculum by mapping the school syllabus with the STEM kits and consulting the teachers for effective learning outcomes.
  • Guide teachers in using STEM methodology, developing evaluation tools/mechanisms, collaborating with teachers and parents to ensure quality public education.
  • Network regularly with the local government and education department.
  • Prepare monthly work plans to guide individual responsibilities and achieve project milestones.
  • Submit regular activity and progress reports for regular monitoring of the project to the StateCoordinator.
  • Ensure that STEM methodology is institutionalized in these schools, evidenced by baseline and end line survey to measure enhancement of learning and retention of students. 
  • Support the team members in Liaoning and advocacy with all stakeholder, other assignments based on the project requirement

Skills and Competencies
  • Minimum qualification: Graduation in Science and Math / Engineering
  • Must have experience in education, preferably with government/public schools.
  • Must be proficient in local language (Marathi), and have working knowledge of English.
  • Must have good documentation skills in local language (Marathi). Documentation skill in English will be an added advantage.
  • Must have good communication skills.
  • Must have experience in mentoring and leading teams and individuals.
  • Minimum work experience of two years in education/ training and development on Science, Math and Engineering.
  • Adept at using MS word and Excel for project reporting and monitoring.
  • Familiarity with the Government Departments and agencies responsible for education, human resource development and social welfare/justice.
Fee & Benefits
Approx – Rs. 37,000 per month including TDS.
