Context

The Human Development team working on Nepal, Sri Lanka and the Maldives covers health, nutrition, and population (HNP), education (including early childhood development, primary and secondary education, skills development and higher education) and social protection and jobs. The portfolio is large and diverse, building essential service delivery, enabling livelihood creation and jobs, and responding to emergencies including poly crises that the countries are going through. The team works closely with the macro-economic, poverty and equity, governance, and digital development teams and engages in analytical work and investment operations, some with multiple development partners.

Task description

The Research Analyst is expected to work primarily on the Nepal, Sri Lanka and Maldives country management unit’s (SACSN CMU) human development portfolio, with some time dedicated to other priority tasks, as required. The work program is expected to include a mix of research, knowledge, and operational work. The Research Analyst will report to the Program Lead (PL) for Human Development. The UN Volunteer is expected to work closely with the human development teams (education, health, social protection, and jobs), and other teams across the Bank (poverty and equity, macro fiscal, digital development, climate, social development, etc.), and externally with clients and partner agencies. The Research Analyst will undertake the following tasks: • Contribute to data collection, research and analytical work, under the supervision of the project lead. • Undertake research and prepare just-in-time reports and presentations on critical are-as for policy dialogue, including global challenge programs and global priority pro-grams. • Contribute to drafting briefs, reports on human development in the three countries of the SACSN CMU including policy briefs, public expenditure reviews, impact evaluations, Country Economic Memoranda, etc. • Research on skills, jobs (formal and informal), migration, employability and livelihood from an economic and social lens. • Support operational tasks including project preparation, implementation support and monitoring. • Join field visits. • Other duties and tasks as specified by the project lead..
