The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is the leading global environmental authority that sets the global environmental agenda, promotes the coherent implementation of the environmental dimension of sustainable development within the United Nations system, and serves as an authoritative advocate for the global environment. The Development Coordination Unit in the Policy and Programme Division facilitates coherent and effective policy support and approaches across UNEP for enhanced implementation of the environmental dimension of the 2030 Agenda within the UN system. The Individual Contractor will report directly to the Programme Management Officer (P4). Among its key priorities, the Development Coordination Unit aims to improve UNEP’s contribution to UNCT processes, as measured by Resident Coordinators and UNCTs, through the harmonization of country level data on UNEP activities, presence, budget and environmental context, and through the support of the Network of UNCT Focal Points to increase policy coherence, strategic policy advice and intelligence gathering at the country level, building on the strategic direction of the Medium-Term Strategy 2022-2025. This need was further highlighted as a priority by the UNEP Executive Director in February 2023 which led to the creation of a first iteration of the Country Project Dashboards and by the UNEP UNCT Focal Points during its first workshop, highlighting country-level data as one of their most pressing and critical needs. To achieve these objectives, the Development Coordination Unit seeks the expertise of a BI Analyst who will assist, in close coordination with the Corporate Services Division and relevant units through the following priorities. 1. Country Dashboards Upgrade – Maintain, refine and update the Country Dashboards – Phase 2 in line with emerging demands from end-users and perform any required improvements based on user feedback. And include project results and outputs as part of the data fields that can be extracted as IPMR reporting improves. 2. Dashboard development on CCA/CF and country presence– Develop complementary Power BI dashboards as per the unit’s corporate data needs covering portfolio, financials, donor contribution data per country, UNEP country presence (HR) per country, country categories, results reported. 3. Optimize UNCT Engagement Network internal processes – Support the assessment of current practices on user management, mailing lists, user analytics and recommend and implement where possible automatization of processes when possible. 4. IPMR Analysis & Advice to ensure data reliability – Documentation & contribution to the IPMR Data Dictionary & IPMR data extraction standardization.
