Mission and objectives
The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme is the UN organization that supports human development globally by promoting volunteerism and by mobilizing volunteers. It is administered by UNDP and operates amidst growing recognition that volunteerism makes important contributions, economically and socially, to more cohesive societies by building trust and reciprocity among citizens. The UNV Regional Offices (RO) provide oversight and strategic guidance to the UNV Field Units in their respective geographical assignments and are mainly accountable for the placement of UN Volunteers mobilized for UN Agencies, Funds, and Programmes focused on peace, development, and humanitarian needs. The Regional Offices also lead in scoping and delivering UNV’s advisory service offer on volunteer infrastructure. The Regional Office for Arab States (ROAS) is based in Amman, Jordan.
Context
UNV is in the process of creating a video to explain how to become a UN Volunteer. The goal is to encourage more people, particularly from the Arab states, to join the UN system. Once the video is ready, we will share it on our channels. To make this happen, we need help from online volunteers to translate the script into Arabic and integrate it into the video before we share it across the Arab States.
Task description
We are seeking 2 Online Volunteers to support us by translating How to become a UN volunteer video from English to Arabic. The task would be: - The first volunteer will translate the video script from English to Arabic. - The second volunteer will add the translated script into the video. The selected Online Volunteers will be provided with the document in the original language and will receive guidance on the target audience and our communications guidelines as well as other guidance as needed. The Online Volunteers will have the opportunity to build connections with the [team/section] at [host entity/organization] and learn about the ways in which the translated product contributes to [objective the translated product contributes to/purpose of translated product].
